4.2 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain

The chainsaw features a tool-free adjustment system for easy chain installation and tensioning.

  1. Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
  2. Loosen the chain cover knob and remove the chain cover.
  3. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction (refer to markings on the chain).
  4. Fit the chain and guide bar onto the chainsaw body, aligning the chain with the drive sprocket.
  5. Replace the chain cover and lightly tighten the knob.
  6. Adjust the chain tension using the tool-free adjustment knob until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand. There should be a small amount of play (approx. 2-3mm) when pulled from the center of the guide bar.

5. Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure all safety precautions are understood and followed, and the chainsaw is properly set up.

5.1 Starting and Stopping

  1. Insert a charged battery into the battery slot until it clicks into place.
  2. To start, press and hold the safety lock button (usually located near the trigger) and then squeeze the trigger switch. The chain will begin to move.
  3. To stop, release the trigger switch. The chain will stop rotating.

5.2 Cutting Techniques

The SUNCHERS Mini Chainsaw is designed for one-handed control, offering ease of maneuverability for various cutting tasks.

  • Branch Pruning: For small branches, position the chainsaw firmly against the branch and apply steady pressure. Allow the saw to do the work.
  • Log Cutting: For larger logs within the 6-inch capacity, ensure the log is stable. Make a small cut on the underside first to prevent pinching, then complete the cut from the top.
  • Avoid Kickback: Never cut with the tip of the guide bar. Always use the bottom or top edge of the guide bar.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your chainsaw.

  • Chain Lubrication: The auto-oiling system will lubricate the chain during use. Regularly check the oil level in the reservoir and refill as needed.
  • Chain Tension: Check chain tension before each use and adjust if necessary using the tool-free knob. A properly tensioned chain should be snug but still allow you to pull it freely around the guide bar.
  • Chain Sharpening: A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.
  • Cleaning: After each use, remove the battery and clean the chainsaw. Remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor housing. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
  • Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Charge them periodically if not in use.
