5. Operating Instructions
The Beryl 7 router offers various modes and features to manage your network. All advanced configurations are performed via the web-based admin panel.
5.1 Internet Connection Modes
- Ethernet (WAN): Connect an Ethernet cable from your internet source to the router's WAN port. The router will automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP.
- Wi-Fi Repeater (WISP): Connect the router wirelessly to an existing Wi-Fi network (e.g., hotel Wi-Fi, public hotspot). This allows the Beryl 7 to extend the signal and provide a secure sub-network. Configure this in the admin panel under "Internet".
- USB Tethering: Connect a smartphone or USB modem to the USB 3.0 port. The router can use the mobile data connection as its internet source. Enable this feature in the admin panel.
5.2 VPN Client and Server
The Beryl 7 comes with OpenVPN and WireGuard pre-installed, supporting over 30 VPN service providers. It can function as both a VPN client and a VPN server simultaneously.
- VPN Client: Connect your router to a VPN server to encrypt all network traffic for devices connected to the Beryl 7. This enhances privacy and security, especially on public networks. Configure client settings in the admin panel.
- VPN Server: Host your own VPN server on the Beryl 7 to securely access your home network resources remotely. Configure server settings in the admin panel.

5.3 AdGuard Home
AdGuard Home is a network-wide ad and tracker blocking software. It can be enabled on your Beryl 7 router to filter content for all connected devices. This feature is configurable via the admin panel.
5.4 Physical Toggle Switch
The physical toggle switch on the side of the router can be assigned a custom function through the admin panel. Common uses include quickly enabling/disabling VPN client or AdGuard Home.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Firmware Updates
Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the router's admin panel. Firmware updates provide security enhancements, bug fixes, and new features. It is recommended to perform updates when your network is not in active use.
6.2 Cleaning
Clean the router periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and obstructions.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Beryl 7 router, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Internet Connection:
- Check if the WAN Ethernet cable is securely connected.
- Verify that your internet source (modem, hotel network) is active and providing internet.
- If using Wi-Fi Repeater mode, ensure the upstream Wi-Fi network is active and you have the correct password.
- Restart the router and your modem/internet source.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
- Ensure your devices support Wi-Fi 7 for optimal performance.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- Adjust the router's position to improve signal strength.
- If VPN is active, some speed reduction is normal due to encryption overhead.
- Cannot Access Admin Panel:
- Ensure your device is connected to the router's Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable to the LAN port.
- Verify you are typing the correct IP address: http://192.168.8.1.
- Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
- Forgot Admin Password:
- Use the reset button on the router. Press and hold it for approximately 5-10 seconds until the LED light flashes. This will restore the router to factory defaults, and you will need to set up a new admin password.
