Setup Instructions
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the MaxiCOM MK900 unit and all accessories from the packaging. Verify all components listed in the packing list are present.
- Initial Charge: Connect the power adapter to the MK900 and a power outlet. Allow the device to charge fully before first use. The battery indicator will show charging status.
- Power On: Press and hold the power button located on the side of the device until the Autel logo appears on the screen.
- Language and Region Setup: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language and region settings.
- Wi-Fi Connection: Navigate to Settings and connect the device to a stable Wi-Fi network. This is essential for software updates and online features.
- Software Update: After connecting to Wi-Fi, go to the Update application. Download and install all available system and vehicle software updates to ensure optimal performance and the latest vehicle coverage.
- Connect to Vehicle:
- Locate the vehicle's OBD-II port, typically under the dashboard on the driver's side.
- Connect the diagnostic cable from the MK900 to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
- Turn the vehicle's ignition to the "ON" position (engine off).

Operating Instructions
The MaxiCOM MK900 provides a user-friendly interface for various diagnostic and service functions. Below are general steps for common operations.
1. Vehicle Diagnostics
- From the main menu, tap "Diagnostics".
- Select the vehicle manufacturer (e.g., Ford, Chevrolet, Jeep).
- Choose "Automatic selection" to allow the tool to automatically read the VIN, or "Manual selection" if automatic VIN acquisition fails.
- Confirm the vehicle profile (make, model, year, engine type).
- Once connected, select "Auto Scan" to perform a comprehensive scan of all available vehicle systems (e.g., Engine, ABS, Airbag, Transmission).
- Review the detected Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and system status. You can select specific systems for deeper analysis.
- Reading and Clearing Codes:
- To read codes, select the desired system and choose "Read Codes".
- To clear codes, after addressing the underlying issue, select the system and choose "Erase Codes".
- Live Data: Access real-time sensor data by selecting "Live Data". This can be displayed in text, graph, or gauge format for detailed analysis.

2. Active Tests (Bidirectional Control)
Active tests allow you to send commands to vehicle systems to test component functionality. This is crucial for pinpointing faulty parts.
- From the "Diagnostics" menu, after selecting the vehicle, navigate to the specific system (e.g., Engine, ABS).
- Look for options like "Active Test" or "Actuation Test".
- Select the component you wish to test (e.g., fuel pump, cooling fan, window motor).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to activate or deactivate the component and observe its response.

3. Service Functions
The MK900 offers over 40 service functions for routine maintenance and special operations.
- From the main menu, tap "Service" or "Hot Functions".
- Select the desired service function (e.g., Oil Reset, EPB Reset, SAS Calibration, DPF Regeneration, TPMS Reset, Injector Coding).
- Follow the detailed on-screen instructions to perform the service. Ensure all prerequisites are met before proceeding.

4. Pre & Post Scan Reports
Generate comprehensive reports before and after repairs to document diagnostic findings and confirm successful repairs.
- Perform an "Auto Scan" before starting any repairs.
- Save the scan results as a "Pre-Scan Report".
- After completing repairs, perform another "Auto Scan".
- Save these results as a "Post-Scan Report".
- Reports can be wirelessly printed via Wi-Fi or uploaded to the Autel Cloud for management and sharing.

Maintenance
- Software Updates: Regularly check for and install software updates via Wi-Fi to ensure the device has the latest vehicle coverage and functionalities.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the screen and exterior of the device. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in its protective case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if storing for extended periods.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the diagnostic cable for any signs of wear, damage, or fraying. Replace damaged cables immediately to prevent electrical issues.

- Q: Why don't some features work?
- A: Approximately 90% of cases are due to vehicle incompatibility. Send your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to Autel support for a compatibility check.
- Q: Are upgrades free?
- A: The device includes 1 year of free upgrades. After the first year, upgrades are available for an annual fee (approximately $149/year). Core functions will continue to work without renewal, but cloud-based features may be restricted.
- Q: Does it support Bluetooth?
- A: The Autel MaxiCOM MK900 model primarily uses a wired connection for stability and speed. It does not feature Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring no data drop-offs or lag associated with wireless connections.
