1. Introduction

This device is designed to enhance your cycling and outdoor adventures with seamless communication, hands-free calls, and high-quality audio, all while maintaining awareness of your surroundings. Its open-ear design ensures safety by not blocking ambient sounds.

3. Setup

3.1. Installation

The BH03 features a helmet-specific clip-on mount for quick and secure attachment to various helmet types. Follow these steps:

  1. Identify a suitable location on your helmet strap, typically on the side near your ear.
  2. Slide the helmet strap through the clip-on mount until it is securely fastened.
  3. Attach the BH03 main unit to the mounted clip. Ensure it clicks into place.
  4. Adjust the microphone arm for optimal positioning near your mouth.

3.2. Initial Pairing

To connect your BH03 to a Bluetooth device (smartphone, GPS, cycle computer):

  1. Ensure the BH03 is powered off.
  2. Press and hold the power button until the LED indicator flashes blue and red alternately, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  4. Select "J-TREK BH03" from the list of found devices.
  5. Once connected, the LED indicator on the BH03 will flash blue slowly.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds until the LED indicator lights up blue.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds until the LED indicator turns off.

4.2. Phone Calls

  • Answer Call: Short press the power button.
  • End Call: Short press the power button during a call.
  • Reject Call: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds when a call comes in.
  • Redial Last Number: Double-press the power button.

4.3. Music Playback

  • Play/Pause: Short press the power button.
  • Next Track: Short press the Volume Up button.
  • Previous Track: Short press the Volume Down button.
  • Volume Adjustment: Long press the Volume Up or Volume Down button.

4.4. Intercom Function

The BH03 supports group communication for up to 8 riders. To initiate or join an intercom group:

  1. Ensure all BH03 units are paired with each other or in a group pairing mode (refer to the detailed pairing instructions in the full user guide for multi-unit pairing).
  2. Once connected, communication is typically initiated by a short press of the intercom button (if available) or automatically when in range.
  3. The DSP and CVC noise cancellation will ensure clear voice transmission up to 1000m.

4.5. App Control

The J-TREK BH03 can be controlled and updated via a dedicated smartphone application. This app allows for advanced settings, intuitive operation, and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

  • Download the official J-TREK app from your smartphone's app store.
  • Connect your BH03 to the app via Bluetooth.
  • Use the app for easy configuration, checking battery status, and managing group talk settings.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Charging

The BH03 is equipped with a long-lasting battery and supports fast charging.

  • Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the charging port on the BH03 and to a compatible USB power source.
  • A full charge takes approximately 60 minutes.
  • A fully charged unit provides up to 14 hours of continuous talk time.

5.2. Water Resistance

The BH03 has an IPX6 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against powerful water jets. This allows you to enjoy your ride without worry, even in heavy rain or during intense activities where you might sweat a lot.

  • While the device is water-resistant, avoid submerging it in water.
  • After exposure to rain or sweat, wipe the device dry with a soft cloth.

5.3. Cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • The microphone sponges can be gently cleaned or replaced if necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your J-TREK BH03, please refer to the following common solutions:
