1. Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using the Garvee Commercial Coffee Urn. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

• Always ensure the urn is placed on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface away from the edge of the counter.
• Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact customer service for examination, repair, or adjustment.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

3. Setup

1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the urn interior, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Do not immerse the exterior of the urn or the electrical components in water.
3. Placement: Place the coffee urn on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the urn for ventilation and safe operation. Keep it away from walls or other appliances.
4. Assemble Filter Basket: Insert the stainless steel reusable filter basket into the designated position inside the urn.
5. Lid Placement: Place the lid firmly on the urn.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to brew and dispense coffee with your Garvee Commercial Coffee Urn.

Brewing Coffee

1. Fill with Water: Remove the lid and filter basket. Fill the urn with cold, fresh water up to the desired level, observing the water level indicator. Do not overfill past the MAX line.
2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable stainless steel filter basket back into the urn. Add the desired amount of coarse-ground coffee directly into the filter basket. (Note: Fine grounds may clog the filter. No paper filters are needed.)
3. Secure Lid: Place the lid firmly on the urn.
4. Plug In: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
5. Start Brewing: Turn the power switch to the "ON" position. The red "HEAT" indicator light will illuminate, signifying that the brewing cycle has begun.
6. Monitor Brewing: The brewing process will take approximately 60 minutes for a full urn. The red light will remain on during heating. Once brewing is complete, the red light will turn off, and the yellow "KEEP WARM" light will illuminate, indicating the coffee is ready to serve and is being maintained at an optimal temperature.

Dispensing Coffee

• Single Cup Dispense: Place a cup under the spigot. Press the spigot handle down to dispense a single serving. Release the handle to stop the flow.
• Continuous Flow: For continuous dispensing, lift the spigot handle upwards. Push it back down to close the spigot.

Temperature Control

The urn features a temperature control dial. Adjust this dial to fine-tune the holding temperature of your beverage. The "KEEP WARM" function will maintain the selected temperature.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee urn.

1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the urn from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Disassemble: Remove the lid and the stainless steel filter basket.
3. Wash Components: Wash the lid and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
4. Clean Urn Interior: Wash the interior of the urn with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive cleaner designed for stainless steel can be used. Rinse the interior thoroughly with clean water, ensuring all soap residue is removed.
5. Clean Urn Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the urn with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel finish.
6. Spigot Cleaning: Ensure the spigot is clean and free of any coffee residue. If necessary, disassemble the spigot according to manufacturer instructions (if provided, otherwise use a small brush to clean the spout).
7. Drying: Dry all parts completely before reassembly or storage.
8. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may build up inside the urn, affecting performance. To descale, fill the urn with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Heat the solution (do not boil) and let it stand for 30-60 minutes. Drain the solution, then rinse the urn thoroughly several times with fresh water.
