TOOLIOM CUT-60 PRO 60A Non-Touch Pilot Arc Plasma Cutter

Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the TOOLIOM CUT-60 PRO 60A Non-Touch Pilot Arc Plasma Cutter. This machine is designed for efficient and precise cutting of various metals, featuring dual voltage capability (110V/220V), a non-high frequency pilot arc, and a digital control display. Please read this manual thoroughly before operation to ensure safe and optimal performance.

2. Safety Information

Operating a plasma cutter involves significant risks. Adhere to all safety precautions to prevent injury or damage.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the machine is properly grounded. Do not operate in wet conditions. Verify input voltage matches the machine's requirements (110V or 220V).
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear flame-resistant clothing, welding gloves, and an auto-darkening welding helmet or plasma cutting shield. Eye protection is critical.
  • Ventilation: Operate in a well-ventilated area to disperse fumes and gases produced during cutting.
  • Fire Prevention: Keep flammable materials away from the cutting area. Have a fire extinguisher readily available.
  • Hot Surfaces: The torch and workpiece will be extremely hot after cutting. Allow them to cool before handling.
  • Thermal Protection: The unit includes thermal protection that automatically shuts off the machine if it overheats. Allow it to cool down before resuming operation.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your plasma cutter:

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to a suitable 110V or 220V AC power outlet. The machine automatically detects the voltage.
  2. Air Compressor Connection: Connect an air compressor (not included) to the 1/4" NPT air connector on the back of the unit. Ensure the air pressure is set according to the material being cut.
  3. Torch Connection: Securely connect the TL-IPT40 plasma cutting torch to the designated port on the front panel.
  4. Work Clamp Connection: Attach the work clamp to the workpiece, ensuring good electrical contact.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On and Initial Settings

Turn on the main power switch. The digital display will illuminate. Adjust the air pressure using the dedicated button and the central knob to the recommended setting for your material. Set the desired cutting current (amperage) using the central knob.

5.2 2T/4T Function

The 2T/4T function controls torch trigger behavior:

  • 2T (Two-Touch): Press and hold the torch trigger to start the arc; release to stop. Suitable for short cuts and precise control.
  • 4T (Four-Touch): Press and release the trigger to start the arc; press and release again to stop. Ideal for long, continuous cuts, reducing operator fatigue.

5.3 Cutting Operation

Position the torch nozzle approximately 1/8 inch (3mm) above the workpiece for non-touch pilot arc initiation. Press the torch trigger to start the arc. Move the torch steadily along the cut line at an appropriate speed. Observe the molten metal and sparks to maintain a consistent cut. Adjust cutting speed and current as needed for different material thicknesses and types.

5.4 Post-Flow Cooling

The machine features adjustable post-flow cooling (5-20 seconds) to cool the torch consumables after the arc stops, extending their lifespan. This time can be adjusted via the control panel.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your plasma cutter.

  • Cleaning: Keep the machine clean and free from dust and metal particles. Use compressed air to clear ventilation openings.
  • Torch Consumables: Regularly inspect the torch nozzle, electrode, and shield cup. Replace them when worn to maintain optimal cutting performance.
  • Air Filter: Check and clean the air filter/regulator regularly to ensure a clean and dry air supply to the torch.
  • Cables and Connections: Inspect all cables and connections for damage or loose fittings before each use.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No arc initiationNo power, poor ground connection, worn consumables, insufficient air pressure.Check power supply, ensure secure ground, replace torch consumables, verify air pressure.
Poor cut qualityIncorrect current/speed, worn consumables, contaminated air, incorrect torch height.Adjust settings, replace consumables, check air filter, maintain proper torch distance.
Machine overheats (shuts off)Exceeding duty cycle, blocked ventilation, high ambient temperature.Allow machine to cool, ensure clear ventilation, reduce cutting time.
Air pressure display incorrectFaulty sensor, air leak.Contact support, check air hose connections.
