5. Installation Guide
Follow these steps for proper installation of your solar submersible pump:
- Prepare the Well: Ensure the well is clear of debris and has sufficient water depth for the pump to be fully submerged. The pump diameter is approximately 3 inches (73mm), so ensure the well casing is wide enough.
- Connect Outlet Hose: Attach a suitable 3/4" (19mm) water outlet hose to the pump's discharge port. Secure it with a hose clamp to prevent leaks.
- Lower the Pump: Carefully lower the pump into the well using a strong rope or cable attached to the double lifting ring. Ensure the pump hangs freely and does not touch the bottom or sides of the well. The pump should be fully submerged.
- Connect Solar Panels: Connect the pump's 15-meter power line to your 12V solar panel array. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative). The built-in MPPT controller will manage power optimization.
- Secure Wiring: Route and secure all wiring to prevent damage or entanglement.
- Test Operation: Once all connections are secure and the pump is submerged, expose the solar panels to sunlight to initiate operation. Verify water flow from the outlet.

Figure 5: Outlet Connection. This image shows the pump's outlet before and after connecting the 3/4-inch (19mm) hose adapter, demonstrating the proper attachment for the water discharge hose.

Figure 6: Basic System Diagram. This diagram illustrates the fundamental setup of a solar water pump system, showing solar panels connected to the pump, which then draws water from a well and delivers it to a storage tank.
6. Operation
The Artudatech solar pump operates automatically when sufficient sunlight is available to the connected solar panels. The integrated MPPT controller optimizes power delivery to the pump.
- Automatic Start/Stop: The pump will start pumping water when solar power is sufficient and stop when power drops (e.g., at night or during heavy cloud cover).
- Dry Run Protection: The MPPT controller includes dry run protection to prevent damage if the water level in the well drops too low.
- Overheating Protection: The controller also protects the pump from overheating.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your pump:
- Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the pump, wiring, and connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
- Clean Solar Panels: Keep solar panels clean to maximize sunlight absorption and power generation.
- Check Water Quality: If pumping from a source with high sediment, periodically check the pump's intake for blockages.
- Winterization (if applicable): In freezing climates, remove the pump from the well and store it in a frost-free location if it will not be used during winter. Drain all water from the pump and hoses.
8. Troubleshooting
Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | Insufficient sunlight Loose electrical connections Low water level in well Damaged wiring/pump | Wait for stronger sunlight Check and secure all connections Verify water level, allow well to recharge Inspect wiring, contact support if pump is damaged |
| Low water flow | Partial blockage in intake/hose Insufficient solar power Pump not fully submerged | Check and clear any blockages Clean solar panels, ensure full sun exposure Adjust pump depth to ensure full submersion |
| Pump runs intermittently | Fluctuating solar power (clouds) Low water level triggering dry run protection | Normal operation during variable sunlight Check well water level, allow to recharge |
| Unusual noise from pump | Debris in pump Pump running dry | Remove pump and inspect for debris Ensure pump is fully submerged |
