Installation (Setup)

The VIANIS outdoor light fixture comes pre-assembled for quick and hassle-free installation. No self-assembly of the fixture body is required.

  1. Prepare for Installation:
    • Turn off power at the main circuit breaker.
    • Carefully unpack the fixture and all components.
  2. Mounting the Fixture:
    • Attach the round mounting plate (included in hardware kit) to your junction box using the provided screws. Ensure it is securely fastened.
    • Connect the fixture's wires to your household wiring: black to black (live), white to white (neutral), and ground to ground. Use the provided wire nuts to secure connections.
    • Carefully tuck all wires into the junction box.
    • Align the fixture with the mounting plate and secure it using the provided screws.
  3. Install Bulb:
    • The fixture features an opening bottom design for easy bulb replacement.
    • Screw a standard E26 base, dimmable LED bulb (not included) into the socket. Using a non-dimmable bulb may cause flickering or improper function with the sensor modes.
  4. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

Operation

Your VIANIS motion sensor light offers multiple operating modes and adjustable settings for customized outdoor lighting.

Sensor Controls

  • SENS Knob (Sensitivity Adjustment): Turn this knob to adjust the motion detection sensitivity. Turn towards '+' for higher sensitivity (detects motion from further away) or towards '-' for lower sensitivity (reduces false triggers from distant objects or small animals). Maximum sensing distance is 40 feet.
  • AUTO TIME Knob (Lighting Duration Adjustment): This knob controls how long the light stays on after motion is detected. Adjust from 20 seconds to 5 minutes. Point the knob to "ON" for continuous 100% brightness (Manual Override Mode).
  • Mode Switch Button: Press this button to cycle through the different operating modes. The sensor remembers your last setting.

Operating Modes

The light features four primary operating modes, selectable via the mode switch button:

Diagram illustrating three operating modes: DIM Mode, ECO Mode, and D2D Mode. DIM Mode shows dim light at night, brightening with motion. ECO Mode shows light off at night, brightening with motion. D2D Mode shows light on at dusk and off at dawn.

Image: Operating Modes Overview. This image visually explains the behavior of DIM Mode, ECO Mode, and D2D Mode under different light and motion conditions.

  • DIM Mode (Red Indicator LED): The light provides 30% brightness at night. When motion is detected, it illuminates to 100% brightness for the set duration, then returns to 30% brightness. This mode balances security and energy efficiency.
  • ECO Mode (Green Indicator LED): The light remains off at night. When motion is detected, it illuminates to 100% brightness for the set duration, then turns off completely. This mode offers maximum energy savings.
  • D2D Mode (Blue Indicator LED): The light automatically turns on to 100% brightness at dusk and turns off at dawn, without any motion sensing function. This provides continuous illumination throughout the night.
  • ON Mode (No Indicator LED / Manual Override): To activate continuous 100% brightness for an extended period (up to 8 hours), quickly turn the wall switch OFF and then ON within 2 seconds. The light will stay on at 100% brightness and automatically turn off at dawn, returning to the previously selected auto mode. To exit ON Mode manually, turn the wall switch OFF for more than 10 seconds, then turn it back ON.

Built-in Dimmer

In DIM Mode, you can adjust the initial dim brightness (15%-50%) by long-pressing the mode switch button on the sensor. Release the button when the desired brightness is achieved.

Maintenance

The VIANIS outdoor light fixture is constructed from heavy-duty die-cast aluminum alloy, designed to be anti-rust, waterproof, and durable for long-term outdoor use.

  • Cleaning: To clean the fixture, ensure the power is off at the circuit breaker. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish or sensor components.
  • Bulb Replacement: Ensure power is off. The open-bottom design allows for easy bulb replacement without tools. Simply unscrew the old E26 bulb and screw in a new dimmable LED bulb.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the fixture for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Address any issues promptly to maintain safety and performance.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VIANIS motion sensor light, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on.No power supply; Loose wiring; Faulty bulb; Incorrect mode.Check circuit breaker. Ensure all wire connections are secure. Replace bulb with a known working, dimmable LED bulb. Verify operating mode.
Motion sensor not detecting.Sensitivity too low; Obstruction to sensor; Sensor dirty; Incorrect mode.Adjust 'SENS' knob to increase sensitivity. Clear any objects blocking the sensor's view. Clean sensor lens. Ensure not in D2D or ON Mode.
Light stays on continuously. In D2D or ON Mode; Constant motion detected; 'AUTO TIME' knob set to 'ON'.Switch to DIM or ECO Mode. Check for continuous motion in sensor's range. Adjust 'AUTO TIME' knob away from 'ON' setting.
Light flickers.Non-dimmable bulb used; Loose bulb connection; Electrical interference.Ensure a dimmable LED bulb is installed. Tighten bulb in socket. Consult an electrician if flickering persists.
Light turns on/off randomly.High sensitivity; Environmental factors (e.g., moving branches, passing cars).Adjust 'SENS' knob to decrease sensitivity. Reposition fixture if possible to minimize false triggers.
