5. Setup and Installation

5.1 CPU Installation

  1. Locate the LGA 1150 CPU socket on the motherboard.
  2. Gently push down the load lever and pull it sideways to open the CPU socket cover.
  3. Align the CPU with the socket, matching the golden triangle on the CPU with the triangle on the socket. Carefully place the CPU into the socket without forcing it.
  4. Close the socket cover and push the load lever back into place until it clicks.
  5. Install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.

5.2 Memory (RAM) Installation

  1. Open the clips at both ends of the DDR3 DIMM slots.
  2. Align the notch on the memory module with the notch in the DIMM slot.
  3. Insert the memory module firmly into the slot until the clips snap into place. Ensure both clips are closed.

5.3 Storage Device Installation

5.3.1 SATA Drives

  1. Connect one end of the SATA data cable to a SATA port on the motherboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the SATA data cable to your SATA hard drive or SSD.
  3. Connect a SATA power cable from your power supply unit (PSU) to the drive.

5.3.2 M.2 SSD

  1. Locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard.
  2. Remove the M.2 standoff screw.
  3. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at a 30-degree angle.
  4. Gently push down the M.2 SSD and secure it with the standoff screw.

5.4 Expansion Card Installation

  1. Remove the metal slot cover from your computer case corresponding to the desired PCIe slot (PCIe x16 for graphics cards, PCIe x1 for other expansion cards).
  2. Align the expansion card with the slot and press it firmly until it is fully seated.
  3. Secure the card with a screw to the computer case.

5.5 Power Connections

  1. Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your PSU to the 24-pin main power connector on the motherboard.
  2. Connect the 4-pin or 8-pin +12V CPU power connector from your PSU to the corresponding CPU power connector on the motherboard.

5.6 Front Panel and I/O Connections

  1. Connect the front panel headers (Power LED, HDD LED, Power Switch, Reset Switch) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard's silkscreen labels for correct orientation.
  2. Connect front panel USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 cables to the respective headers.
  3. Connect the front panel audio cable to the audio header.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Initial Boot

  1. After completing all hardware installations, connect the power cord to the PSU and turn on the power switch.
  2. Press the power button on your computer case.
  3. The system should power on and display the BIOS/UEFI splash screen.

6.2 BIOS/UEFI Access

To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the Delete key repeatedly during the initial boot process when the manufacturer logo appears. Within the BIOS/UEFI, you can configure system settings, boot order, and monitor hardware status.

6.3 Driver Installation

After installing your operating system, install the necessary drivers for the motherboard chipset, audio, LAN, and any other integrated components. These drivers are typically provided on a support CD or can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the interior of your computer case to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating. Use compressed air to remove dust from fans, heatsinks, and motherboard components. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

7.2 BIOS Updates

Periodically check the manufacturer's website for BIOS/UEFI updates. Updates can improve system stability, add support for new hardware, or fix bugs. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing a BIOS update to avoid system damage.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 No Power

  • Check if the PSU is properly connected to the wall outlet and turned on.
  • Ensure the 24-pin ATX and 4/8-pin CPU power connectors are securely seated on the motherboard.
  • Verify that the front panel power switch cable is correctly connected to the motherboard header.

8.2 No Display

  • Ensure the monitor is connected to the correct video output port (VGA or HDMI) on the motherboard or discrete graphics card.
  • Reseat the RAM modules. Incorrectly seated RAM is a common cause of no display.
  • If using a discrete graphics card, ensure it is properly seated in the PCIe slot and has adequate power connected.
  • Try booting with only one RAM stick installed.

8.3 System Instability / Crashes

  • Check CPU and GPU temperatures to ensure they are within safe operating limits.
  • Verify that all drivers are correctly installed and up to date.
  • Run memory diagnostic tools to check for RAM errors.
  • Ensure the PSU provides sufficient and stable power to all components.
