1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient use of your STRICH SDP-500 Digital Piano. The SDP-500 is an 88-key digital piano featuring a hammer-action weighted keyboard, integrated 20W stereo speakers, and wireless connectivity. It offers 200 premium tones, various practice functions, and a furniture-style design with a key cover. 2. Safety Information

General Safety Precautions

  • Do not place the instrument near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  • Avoid exposing the instrument to direct sunlight, high temperatures, excessive humidity, or dust.
  • Do not place objects containing liquids on the instrument.
  • Keep small objects and liquids away from the instrument to prevent them from entering the casing.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the instrument. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  • Ensure the instrument is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent accidental falls.

Electrical Safety

  • Use only the power adapter supplied with the instrument.
  • Ensure the power cord is not walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
  • Unplug the instrument during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

4. Setup

4.1 Assembly

The STRICH SDP-500 Digital Piano requires assembly of the main unit onto its furniture stand. Follow the steps outlined in the included assembly guide. It is recommended to have two people for assembly to ensure stability and prevent damage.

4.2 Connections

The SDP-500 offers various connection options located on the rear panel and underneath the keyboard.

  • DC 12V: Connect the supplied power adapter here.
  • Sustain Pedal: Connect the triple pedal unit cable to this port.
  • MIDI USB: Connect to a computer or MIDI device for MIDI data transmission.
  • Audio In: Connect external audio sources (e.g., smartphone, tablet) to play through the piano's speakers.
  • Audio Out: Connect to external amplification systems or recording devices.
  • Headphone Jack (6.35mm x 2): Located at the bottom left side of the keyboard. Connect headphones for private practice.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume

  • Power On: Press the 'Power' button located on the control panel. The display will illuminate.
  • Power Off: Press the 'Power' button again to turn off the instrument.
  • Volume Adjustment: Use the 'Master Volume' slider or buttons on the control panel to adjust the overall sound level.

5.2 Tones and Rhythms

The SDP-500 features 200 high-quality tones and 200 rhythms.

  • Selecting Tones: Use the 'Tone' button and the numeric keypad or +/- buttons to select from the available instrument sounds.
  • Selecting Rhythms: Use the 'Rhythm' button and the numeric keypad or +/- buttons to choose from the built-in rhythm patterns.

5.3 Practice Functions

  • Metronome: Activate the metronome function and adjust its tempo (40-208 BPM) for timing practice.
  • Auto-Chord: Simplifies playing chords, beneficial for beginners. Refer to the specific instructions in the full user manual for activation.
  • Dual Voice: Layers two different tones simultaneously (e.g., piano and strings) for a richer sound.
  • Split Keyboard: Divides the keyboard into two sections, allowing two players to play different tones or ranges simultaneously.

5.4 Wireless Connectivity

The SDP-500 supports wireless audio streaming and MIDI transmission.

  • Wireless Audio: Connect your smartphone, tablet, or laptop via Bluetooth to stream background music or accompaniment tracks through the piano's speakers.
  • Wireless MIDI: Connect wirelessly to piano learning apps (e.g., Simply Piano) or music creation software (e.g., Logic Pro) for interactive learning and composition.

5.5 Custom EQ

Adjust the sound characteristics using the onboard EQ controls.

  • Bass, Treble, Brightness: Use the dedicated EQ controls on the panel to fine-tune the bass, treble, and overall brightness of the piano's sound output.

6. Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the instrument with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe dry immediately.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • Use the provided cleaning cloth for best results.

Key Cover

The integrated flip-top key cover protects the keys from dust and scratches when not in use. Gently close the cover to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SDP-500, refer to the following common solutions:
