4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Camera

Before initial use, fully charge the AXIS W102 camera. Connect the camera to a power source using the provided USB cable or a compatible docking station. The status indicator will show charging progress. A full charge typically takes several hours.

4.2 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button until a power-off prompt appears on the display, then confirm.

4.3 Connecting to the AXIS Body-Worn Assistant App

The AXIS W102 can be managed and configured using the AXIS Body-Worn Assistant app, available for Android and iOS devices.

  1. Download and install the "AXIS Body-Worn Assistant" app from your device's app store.
  2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  3. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair with your W102 camera via Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1.
  4. Once paired, you can configure settings, view status, and manage recordings through the app.

4.4 Mounting the Camera

The AXIS W102 is compatible with the optional Klick Fast System for secure body-worn camera mounts. Attach the camera to a compatible Klick Fast mount on your uniform or gear, ensuring it is firmly locked in place to prevent accidental detachment during activity.

5. Operation

5.1 Recording Video

  • Start Recording: Press the dedicated record button once. The camera will provide voice and/or vibration feedback, and a status indicator will confirm recording has started.
  • Stop Recording: Press the record button again. The camera will provide feedback, and the status indicator will change.
  • The camera records video at 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second (fps). Electronic image stabilization is available for 720p recordings.
  • The 0.96" color IPS TFT display provides real-time status information.

5.2 Audio Recording

The W102 features dual built-in microphones with voice enhancer and noise cancellation technology to capture clear audio even in challenging environments.

5.3 Storage and Data Management

The camera includes 64GB of internal storage, capable of storing up to 30 hours of captured footage. Data is compressed using H.264 video compression and optimized with Axis Zipstream technology to lower bandwidth and storage requirements. For secure data transfer and management, connect the camera to a computer or compatible docking station.

All data is protected with AES-256 encryption and the Axis Edge Vault cybersecurity platform.

5.4 Connectivity

The camera supports dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 for wireless connectivity, enabling integration with other systems and the mobile app.

6.1 Cleaning the Camera
