Electrical Connection

  • The pump is designed for 110-120V single voltage operation.
  • Plug the pump directly into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
  • Ensure the power outlet is protected by a GFCI.
  • Connect the green grounding wire to an appropriate ground terminal.

4. Operation

Priming the Pump

Before starting the pump for the first time, or after cleaning the strainer basket, it is crucial to prime the pump:

  1. Ensure all valves are open and water can flow freely from the pool to the pump.
  2. Unscrew the transparent lid of the strainer basket.
  3. Fill the strainer basket housing completely with water from a hose or bucket until the water level is above the pump's inlet.
  4. Replace and securely tighten the transparent lid.
  5. Turn on the pump. The pump should begin to draw water and circulate it. If it does not prime within a few minutes, turn it off, check for air leaks, and repeat the priming process.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Garvee pool pump.

Strainer Basket Cleaning

The transparent lid allows for easy visual inspection of the strainer basket. Clean the basket regularly, especially when visible debris accumulates or when water flow decreases.

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect power.
  2. Unscrew the transparent lid.
  3. Remove the detachable strainer basket.
  4. Empty any debris and rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
  5. Inspect the basket for any damage.
  6. Place the clean basket back into the pump housing.
  7. Securely tighten the transparent lid.
  8. Re-prime the pump as described in the Operation section before restarting.

Motor Care

  • Keep the motor free from dirt, dust, and debris to ensure proper airflow and cooling.
  • Do not obstruct the motor's ventilation openings.
  • The motor is equipped with thermal overload protection, which will automatically shut down the pump if it overheats. If this occurs, allow the motor to cool down before restarting.

Winterization

If you live in an area with freezing temperatures, proper winterization is essential to prevent damage:

  • Drain all water from the pump and plumbing lines.
  • Store the pump in a dry, protected area during the off-season.
