Plumbing Connections
The pump is compatible with various pipe sizes and includes multiple adapters for flexible installation.
- Identify the correct adapter size for your pool hoses (1.25", 1.5", or 2").
- Attach the appropriate adapters to the pump's inlet and outlet ports. Ensure a tight, leak-free seal using thread sealant if necessary.
- Connect your pool's suction hose to the pump's inlet (typically the side with the strainer basket) and the return hose to the pump's outlet.

Electrical Connection
- The pump is designed for 110-120V single voltage operation.
- Plug the pump directly into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
- Ensure the power outlet is protected by a GFCI.
- Connect the green grounding wire to an appropriate ground terminal.
4. Operation
Priming the Pump
Before starting the pump for the first time, or after cleaning the strainer basket, it is crucial to prime the pump:
- Ensure all valves are open and water can flow freely from the pool to the pump.
- Unscrew the transparent lid of the strainer basket.
- Fill the strainer basket housing completely with water from a hose or bucket until the water level is above the pump's inlet.
- Replace and securely tighten the transparent lid.
- Turn on the pump. The pump should begin to draw water and circulate it. If it does not prime within a few minutes, turn it off, check for air leaks, and repeat the priming process.

Normal Operation
- The pump is designed for continuous operation to maintain water clarity.
- Monitor the transparent lid for debris accumulation in the strainer basket.
- The pump operates quietly due to its high-efficiency motor and built-in airflow ventilation.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Garvee pool pump.
Strainer Basket Cleaning
The transparent lid allows for easy visual inspection of the strainer basket. Clean the basket regularly, especially when visible debris accumulates or when water flow decreases.
- Turn off the pump and disconnect power.
- Unscrew the transparent lid.
- Remove the detachable strainer basket.
- Empty any debris and rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
- Inspect the basket for any damage.
- Place the clean basket back into the pump housing.
- Securely tighten the transparent lid.
- Re-prime the pump as described in the Operation section before restarting.
Motor Care
- Keep the motor free from dirt, dust, and debris to ensure proper airflow and cooling.
- Do not obstruct the motor's ventilation openings.
- The motor is equipped with thermal overload protection, which will automatically shut down the pump if it overheats. If this occurs, allow the motor to cool down before restarting.
Winterization
If you live in an area with freezing temperatures, proper winterization is essential to prevent damage:
- Drain all water from the pump and plumbing lines.
- Store the pump in a dry, protected area during the off-season.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power; tripped GFCI; motor overload; faulty wiring. | Check power connection and GFCI. Reset if tripped. Allow motor to cool if overheated. Consult an electrician for wiring issues. |
| Pump runs but no water flow | Pump not primed; air leak in suction line; clogged strainer basket; closed valves. | Prime the pump. Check all connections for air leaks. Clean the strainer basket. Ensure all valves are open. |
| Low water flow | Clogged strainer basket; partially closed valves; dirty filter; undersized plumbing. | Clean strainer basket. Open all valves fully. Clean or backwash pool filter. Ensure plumbing is correctly sized. |
| Excessive noise or vibration | Air leak in suction line; pump not securely mounted; debris in impeller; worn bearings. | Check for air leaks. Securely bolt the pump to its base. Inspect and clean impeller. Contact support if bearings are suspected. |
| Water leaks from pump | Loose connections; damaged O-rings/gaskets; cracked housing. | Tighten all connections. Inspect and replace O-rings/gaskets. Contact support for cracked housing. |
