1. Safety Information

Always turn off the engine and allow the auger to stop completely before removing any obstacles or making adjustments. 3. Assembly Instructions

Follow these steps to assemble your NOVUS 24-inch 2-Stage Gas Snow Blower. For a visual guide, refer to the 'NOVUS NV24DSGL Two-stage Gas Snow blower Quick Start Guide' video below.

Step-by-Step Assembly:

  1. Install the Lower Handle:
    • Remove the 4 pre-installed flange bolts, lock washers, and flat washers from the frame.
    • Using the hardware removed earlier, install the lower handle onto the frame and tighten the bolts.
  2. Install the Upper Handle:
    • With assistance, install the upper handle onto the lower handle. Secure it in place using the handle bolts, crank rod eyelet, wave washers, and handle knobs.
    • Insert the Z-bend ends of the auger and drive cables into the lower holes of the left and right engagement levers.
    • Install the threaded portion of the cables into the cable holders on the left and right handles, securing each cable with one nut above and one nut below.
    • Secure in place by tightening the M6 nuts.
  3. Install the Tires:
    • Slide the wheel bushing and the tire onto the axle shaft.
    • Align the hole in the wheel with the axle shaft, insert the 6x35 pin, and secure it in place. Repeat for the other wheel.
  4. Assemble the Chute Deflector and Chute Rotator:
    • Insert the plastic bushing into the front chute rotation bracket.
    • Slide the lower chute rotation rod through the bushing and secure with a 10 mm flat washer and a cotter pin.
    • Slide the upper chute rotator through the crank rod eyelet and into the lower chute rotator.
    • Align the holes of the upper and lower chute rotators. Secure in place by inserting and tightening 2 x M4x20 bolts and 2 x M4 locknuts with spring washers, turning the handle clockwise.
    • Align the 3 mounting holes of the discharge chute with the chute rotator disk holes.
    • Install the 3 x M6x16 square neck bolts from the inside of the discharge chute outward.
    • Secure the chute in place using 3 x 6 mm washers and 3 x M6 lock nuts.
  5. Assemble the Drive Speed Control Rod:
    • Pull up the shift connecting plate and install the short bent end of the drive speed control rod.
    • Install the long bent end of the drive speed control rod to the control panel and secure it with 1 flat washer and 1 cotter pin.
    • Install the speed control handle using the 6 mm spring washer and turn the handle clockwise.
  6. Connect Wiring Harness:
    • Connect the wiring harness assembly to the power take-off.
    • Secure the drive clutch cable and wiring harness assembly to the handle using a clamp.
    • Secure the auger clutch cable to the handle using a clamp.

4. Initial Setup: Oil & Fuel

Add Engine Oil:

  1. Place the snow blower on a flat, level surface.
  2. Using a funnel, add up to 20 fl. oz (600 mL) of oil (refer to the engine manual for recommended oil type). DO NOT OVERFILL.
  3. Check the engine oil level and add oil as needed. Securely screw in the oil fill cap/dipstick.

Add Fuel:

  1. Remove the fuel tank cap.
  2. Add fresh, clean unleaded fuel with a minimum of 87 octane and a maximum of 10% ethanol to the fuel tank, leaving 1/4 inch of space from the top. DO NOT OVERFILL. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
  3. Reinstall the fuel tank cap by turning it clockwise until it stops.

5. Operating Instructions

Starting the Engine (Recoil / Pull Start):

  1. Install the choke/throttle control lever onto the damper handle.
  2. Insert the ON/OFF key.
  3. Slide the choke/throttle control lever to the left to the "Choke" position.
  4. Slide the fuel switch fully to the right to the "ON" position.
  5. Firmly push in the primer 3 times with your thumb, holding it for a second before releasing each time.
  6. Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull rapidly.
  7. Once the engine starts, slowly slide the choke/throttle control lever to the right to the "Run" position.

For electric start, plug in a three-prong cord to the designated port and press the electric start button. Allow the engine to run for 30-40 seconds before starting to throw snow.

Controls and Operation:

  • Self-Propelled Drive: Use the drive lever on the handle to engage the self-propelled function. Select from 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds using the speed control lever to match your pace and snow conditions.
  • Auger Engagement: Pull down the auger engagement lever to activate the steel auger and begin clearing snow.
  • Chute Control: Utilize the remote chute control with 190° rotation to easily adjust the direction of the snow discharge.
