1. Introduction
The Sordin Supreme X2 Hearing Protection Earmuffs are advanced active modular earmuffs designed to provide superior hearing protection while enhancing situational awareness in noisy environments. Ideal for hunting and shooting, these earmuffs feature intelligent sound amplification and noise reduction technologies to protect against harmful impulse noises while allowing clear communication and perception of ambient sounds.
2. Safety Information
- Always ensure the earmuffs are properly fitted to achieve the stated Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). An improper fit will compromise protection.
- Do not modify the earmuffs. Unauthorized modifications may impair their protective function and void the warranty.
- Clean the earmuffs regularly according to the maintenance instructions to ensure hygiene and optimal performance.
- Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
- If you experience any discomfort, pain, or suspect hearing damage, discontinue use and consult a medical professional.
3. Package Contents
Your Sordin Supreme X2 package should contain the following items:
- Sordin Supreme X2 Hearing Protection Earmuffs (with neckband and gel ear pads)
- User Manual (this document)
4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The Sordin Supreme X2 requires batteries to power its active electronics. Ensure you use the correct battery type and install them with the correct polarity.

Figure 4.1: The waterproof battery compartment, shown with a Sordin rechargeable 1.5 VDC AA battery, ensures reliable power for the active electronics.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on one of the ear cups.
- Twist or pull the cover to open it.
- Insert the specified 1.5 VDC AA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
- Securely close the battery compartment cover to maintain its waterproof seal.
4.2 Adjusting Fit
Proper fit is crucial for both comfort and effective hearing protection.

Figure 4.2: The Sordin Supreme X2 earmuffs, shown in green, feature a comfortable neckband and gel ear pads for extended wear and effective hearing protection.
- Place the earmuffs over your ears, ensuring the neckband rests comfortably around the back of your neck.
- Adjust the length of the neckband by sliding the ear cups up or down until they fully enclose your ears.
- Ensure the gel ear pads form a complete and snug seal around your ears. There should be no gaps, as this can reduce the effectiveness of the hearing protection.
4.3 SordinFLEX System
The SordinFLEX system allows for tool-free customization of your earmuffs.

Figure 4.3: The SordinFLEX system provides a tool-free attachment point for changing suspension types or adding compatible accessories, enhancing the versatility of the earmuffs.
This modular system enables you to easily change suspension types (e.g., from neckband to headband) or attach compatible accessories (sold separately) without requiring any tools.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
The control panel allows for easy management of the earmuffs' functions.

Figure 5.1: The control panel on the ear cup features clearly marked buttons for power, volume up (+), and volume down (-), allowing easy adjustment of ambient sound levels.
- Power On: Press and hold the central power button (often integrated with the volume controls) for approximately 2-3 seconds until you hear an audible confirmation tone.
- Power Off: Press and hold the central power button again for approximately 2-3 seconds until you hear a power-off tone.
- Volume Up: Press the '+' button to increase the amplification level of ambient sounds.
- Volume Down: Press the '-' button to decrease the amplification level of ambient sounds.
5.2 SordinHEAR2 Audio Profiles
The SordinHEAR2 software provides four distinct audio profiles to optimize sound for various situations.

Figure 5.2: This button allows users to cycle through the four SordinHEAR2 audio profiles, optimizing sound settings for various environments.
To cycle through the audio profiles, briefly press the mode selection button (often located near the volume controls). Each press will switch to the next profile, indicated by an audible cue or change in sound characteristics. Experiment with the profiles to find the best setting for your current environment (e.g., hunting, shooting range, communication).
5.3 Active Noise Reduction
The earmuffs are designed to automatically reduce loud impulse noises, such as gunshots, to a safe level while simultaneously amplifying quieter sounds like speech or animal movements.

Figure 5.3: This image highlights the silicone gel ear pads designed for comfort and a tight seal, contributing to the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 23dB and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 29.
This feature operates automatically when the earmuffs are powered on, providing continuous protection and enhanced situational awareness.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the exterior of the ear cups and the neckband with a soft, damp cloth.
- Clean the gel ear pads with a mild soap solution and a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ensure the microphones and battery compartment remain dry. Do not immerse the earmuffs in water.
- Allow all components to air dry completely before storage or next use.
6.2 Storage
- Store the earmuffs in a clean, dry, and cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent potential leakage and damage to the electronic components.
6.3 Gel Ear Pads Inspection
- Regularly inspect the gel ear pads for any signs of wear, cracks, hardening, or damage.
- Damaged ear pads can compromise the acoustic seal and reduce the effectiveness of the hearing protection. Replace them if necessary to maintain optimal performance.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound or very low sound | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries Earmuffs not powered on Volume set too low | Check battery level and ensure correct polarity. Replace if necessary. Press and hold the power button to turn on. Increase volume using the '+' button. |
| Poor noise reduction | Improper fit or seal Damaged ear pads | Adjust the neckband and ear cups to ensure a complete seal around the ears. Inspect gel ear pads for wear or damage; replace if needed. |
| Distorted or crackling sound | Low battery power Obstructed microphones Moisture in electronics | Replace batteries. Ensure microphones are clean and free from debris. Allow earmuffs to dry thoroughly in a warm, dry place. |
| Earmuffs do not turn on | Dead batteries Battery compartment not closed properly | Replace batteries. Ensure battery compartment cover is securely closed. |
