Setup

Charging the Battery

Attaching to Camera

The Spark Z3-S is compatible with Sony cameras equipped with a hot shoe mount.

1. Ensure both the camera and the flash unit are powered off.
2. Slide the flash unit into the camera's hot shoe with the flash head facing forward.
3. Tighten the lock ring on the hot shoe to secure the flash in place.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

To power on or off the flash unit, use the Power knob (item 2 in the Product Overview diagram).

Flash Modes

The Spark Z3-S offers two primary flash modes: TTL Auto Mode and Manual Mode, selectable via the A/M switch (item 3).

TTL Auto Mode (A Mode)

In TTL (Through-The-Lens) mode, the flash automatically adjusts its output based on the camera's metering system, providing correct exposure without manual adjustments.

1. Switch the flash to "A" mode.
2. Turn on your Sony camera.
3. In your camera's settings, find "Shutter Type" and select "MS Mechanical Shutter."
4. Navigate to "Function Settings" and select "TTL." Flash intensity compensation can be adjusted manually through your camera's menu if desired.

Manual Mode (M Mode)

Manual mode provides precise control over flash output, allowing for creative lighting effects.

• Switch the flash to "M" mode.
• Use the power adjustment knob to select from 7 levels of flash output, ranging from 1/1 (full power) to 1/64.

Optical Triggering (S1/S2 Modes)

The built-in optical sensor allows the Spark Z3-S to be triggered by another flash unit.

• S1 Mode (Normal Photosensitive Flash Mode): The flash will fire when it detects another flash. Suitable for use with manual flashes or flashes that do not emit a pre-flash.
• S2 Mode (Anti Pre-flash Sensitive Flash Mode): The flash will ignore the pre-flash from a master flash and fire on the main flash. Useful when working with TTL master flashes that emit a pre-flash.
• To activate, use the photosensitive induction button (item 7) to cycle through S1, S2, and OFF.

Recycle Time

The Spark Z3-S boasts a fast recycle time. At full power (1/1 output), the recycle time is approximately 1 second.

Using the Diffuser

The included diffuser can be attached to the flash head to soften the light output, creating more flattering and even illumination, especially for portraits.

Sleep Mode

To conserve battery life, the device will enter sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity. To resume operation, simply power the unit on again.
