1. Introduction
This instruction manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient assembly, operation, and maintenance of your VEVOR Large Metal Chicken Coop. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference. This walk-in poultry enclosure is designed to provide a secure and spacious environment for various small animals, including chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits.
2. Safety Instructions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection during assembly.
- Ensure all components are securely fastened before use. Loose parts can lead to instability and potential injury to animals or users.
- This product requires a minimum of two people for safe assembly due to its size and weight.
- Position the coop on level ground to ensure stability. Uneven surfaces can compromise the structural integrity.
- For added protection against strong winds, heavy snow, or predators, consider anchoring the coop to the ground using additional stakes or weights.
- Regularly inspect the coop for any signs of wear, damage, or rust, especially on metal components and mesh. Address any issues promptly to maintain safety and functionality.
- Before storms or hurricanes, move livestock indoors, remove tarps from the shed, and place sandbags at all four interior corners for added stability.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components listed below are present and undamaged before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact VEVOR customer support.

4. Setup and Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps carefully for proper assembly of your chicken coop. Two-person assembly is recommended.
- Unpack and Organize: Lay out all components and verify against the package contents list. Group similar parts together.
- Assemble the Frame: Connect the galvanized steel pipes to form the dome-shaped frame. Ensure all spring plungers click into place for a secure connection. The frame is constructed from 1-inch thick galvanized steel pipes, designed for durability and resistance to bending and rust.
- Install the Wire Mesh: Attach the hexagonal wire mesh to the assembled frame using the provided cable ties. Ensure the mesh is taut and covers all sides of the enclosure. The mesh features 0.9mm thick steel wire and small hex mesh (1.57 x 1 inch) for predator resistance. Reinforce the bottom with twisted wire to prevent digging.
- Secure the Door: Install the walk-in door. The door features two long gate latches for security. After assembly, the door may tilt slightly due to gravity; you might need to drill and adjust the door frame slightly to ensure it closes properly.
- Attach the Waterproof Cover: Drape the PE waterproof tarp over the dome roof. Secure it using the ball-head bungee cords. The dome design helps water, debris, and light snow slide off.
- Reinforce Stability: Utilize the reinforced ground stakes and strengthened triangle supports to anchor the coop firmly to the ground. For additional predator protection, consider adding a galvanized wire fence, wood, or stones to the bottom perimeter.
- Final Check: Inspect all connections and ensure the structure is stable and secure.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan of your VEVOR chicken coop and ensure the safety and well-being of your animals.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the interior and exterior of the coop. Remove animal waste and debris regularly to maintain hygiene. The walk-in design facilitates easier cleaning.
- Frame Inspection: Inspect the galvanized steel frame for any signs of rust, bending, or damage. While the frame is rust-resistant, prolonged exposure to harsh conditions can cause wear. Address any rust spots with appropriate rust-inhibiting paint.
- Mesh Inspection: Check the hexagonal wire mesh for any tears, holes, or loose connections. Repair or reinforce damaged sections promptly to prevent animal escapes or predator intrusion.
- Tarp Care: Inspect the waterproof tarp for tears or damage. Clean the tarp periodically to remove dirt and mildew. Ensure it is securely fastened, especially during windy conditions. Replace if heavily damaged.
- Ground Stakes: Verify that all ground stakes remain firmly in place. Re-secure or add additional anchoring if the coop shows signs of shifting.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coop feels unstable or wobbly. | Uneven ground; loose frame connections; insufficient anchoring. | Ensure the coop is on level ground. Check all frame connections for tightness. Utilize all provided ground stakes and consider adding extra anchors or weights, especially in windy areas. |
| Door does not close or latch properly. | Misalignment during assembly; frame shifting. | Re-check door frame alignment. Minor adjustments may require drilling new holes or slightly bending the frame to ensure a flush closure. Ensure the main frame is stable. |
| Predators are attempting to dig under the coop. | Insufficient perimeter reinforcement. | Reinforce the bottom perimeter with additional galvanized wire mesh buried underground, or place heavy wood/stones along the base to deter digging. |
| Rust appearing on metal pipes. | Prolonged exposure to moisture; surface scratches. | Clean affected areas and apply a rust-inhibiting primer followed by outdoor-grade paint. Regular inspection and prompt treatment can prevent widespread rust. |
| Tarp accumulating water or snow. | Improper tarp tension; extreme weather conditions. | Ensure bungee cords are taut to maintain the dome shape. In heavy snow, gently remove accumulation to prevent collapse. Consider removing the tarp during severe weather. |
