3. Setup: Attaching to a Hard Hat

The GREEN DEVIL Shield LD HM earmuffs are designed for easy attachment to most cap-style hard hats and safety helmets with side accessory slots. Follow these steps for proper installation and adjustment:

  1. Insert Card Slot (Fig. 1): Insert the hard hat slot adapters into the slots on each side of the hard hat until they click into place.
  2. Adjustment of Position (Fig. 2 & 3): When in use, the attachment arms must be pushed inward until you hear a click on both sides, indicating a shift from "stand-by" to "usage" position. Position the ear cups over your ears so that the cushions fully enclose the ears and seal tightly against the head. Adjust the position of each ear cup while holding the helmet in place until you have a tight and comfortable fit that exerts even pressure around the ears.
  3. Usage Mode (Fig. 3): Ensure the cups and attachment arms are not in contact with the inner lining or the edge of the hard hat when in the "usage" position, otherwise this may lead to leakage of sound.
  4. Stand-by Mode (Fig. 4): For temporary breaks or when not actively needing hearing protection, the earmuffs can be tilted upwards to a stand-by position without removing the helmet.

4.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the power button until you hear an audible prompt.
  • To power off, press and hold the power button until you hear an audible prompt and the indicator light turns off.

4.2 Bluetooth Connection

The earmuffs utilize Bluetooth 5.3 technology for a stable and wide operating range.

  1. Ensure the earmuffs are powered on and in pairing mode (usually indicated by a flashing LED).
  2. On your mobile phone, computer, or tablet, navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
  3. Select "GREEN DEVIL Shield LD HM" from the list of available devices to connect.
  4. Once connected, you will hear a confirmation tone.

4.3 Smart Active Listening (SAL)

The built-in surround microphones and SAL function allow you to maintain situational awareness by capturing and transmitting ambient sounds to the earcups. This protects you from harmful loud noises while still allowing you to hear important environmental sounds.

  • Adjust the volume of ambient sounds using the dedicated controls on the earmuffs.
  • The system automatically suppresses harmful noise levels above a safe threshold.

4.4 Hands-Free Telephony and Audio Playback

With the noise-canceling boom microphone, you can make and receive calls hands-free without removing your hearing protection.

  • Answering/Ending Calls: Use the call control button on the earmuffs to answer or end incoming calls.
  • Music Playback: Control music playback (play, pause, skip tracks) using the integrated buttons.
  • Volume Adjustment: Adjust the volume for calls and music using the volume controls.

4.5 Wired Connection

For a stable, wired audio experience, use the included 3.5mm AUX cable.

  • Connect one end of the 3.5mm AUX cable to the earmuffs' audio input port.
  • Connect the other end to your audio device's 3.5mm output jack.
