1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SEGUMA Level 1/2 Tesla Charger. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your new EV charger. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product and retain it for future reference.

2.2 Key Features

3. Safety Instructions

Please read and follow all safety instructions to prevent injury or damage.

  • Ensure the power outlet is properly grounded and rated for the selected amperage.
  • Do not use the charger if the cable or connector is damaged.
  • Keep the charger away from flammable materials and liquids.
  • Do not attempt to open, disassemble, or modify the charger.
  • Always unplug the charger from the power source before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Ensure the charging port on your vehicle is clean and dry before connecting the charger.

3.1 Intelligent Safety Protections

The SEGUMA charger is equipped with multiple safety features:

3.2 Overheat Protection

The charger features an integrated NTC temperature sensor. If the internal temperature exceeds 90°C, charging will automatically stop to prevent overheating. Charging will resume once the temperature drops below 70°C. If the charger stops due to a temperature above 85°C, you may need to unplug and replug the power plug to reset it before further use.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your SEGUMA EV Charger:

4.1 Connecting to Power Outlets

  1. For Level 2 Charging (240V): Simply insert the NEMA 14-30 plug into a standard 4-prong electric dryer outlet, a dedicated NEMA 14-30 outlet, or a 24A splitter switch.
  2. For Level 1 Charging (110-120V): Attach the NEMA 5-15 adapter to the NEMA 14-30 plug, then insert the NEMA 5-15 adapter into a standard household NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 outlet.

4.2 Mounting the Control Box

Use the provided Control Box Holder and Connector Bracket to securely mount the charger unit on a wall or suitable surface near your charging location. This helps manage the cable and keeps the unit accessible.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Charging Process (3 Steps)

  1. Plug into Outlet: Connect the charger to the appropriate NEMA 14-30 or NEMA 5-15 (with adapter) outlet.
  2. Set the Current: On the charger's control box, press and hold the 'A' button for 3 seconds to cycle through and select your desired amperage (10A, 12A, 16A, 20A, 24A). For NEMA 5-15, available options are 10A and 12A.
  3. Connect to Car: Plug the NACS connector into your vehicle's charging port. The indicator on the charger will flash green, signifying that charging has commenced.

Note: The charging current can also be adjusted via your vehicle's interface or mobile application, if supported.

5.2 Adjustable Amperage

The charger allows you to select the charging current to match your electrical circuit's capacity and your charging needs. Use the 'A' button on the control box to adjust.

  • NEMA 14-30 (240V): 10A, 12A, 16A, 20A, 24A
  • NEMA 5-15 (110-120V): 10A, 12A

5.3 Smart Scheduling

Utilize the scheduling feature to charge your EV during off-peak hours, potentially reducing electricity costs. Press and hold the 'A' button for 3 seconds to enter the scheduling mode, then use the buttons to set your desired charging start or end time (0-12 hours).

5.4 TFT Screen Display

The 1.77-inch TFT screen on the control box provides real-time charging information:

  • Temperature
  • Work Status (e.g., Charging, Standby)
  • Current Option (selected amperage)
  • Charging Time
  • Power Consumption (kWh)
  • Real-time Voltage
  • Real-time Current
  • Real-time Power (kW)

5.5 LED Charging Status Indicators

The dynamic LED lights on the charger provide a quick visual reference for the charging status:

  • Green Bars (Flashing): Charging
  • Green Bars (Solid): Fully Charged
  • Blue Bars (Flashing): EV Connected
  • Blue Bars (Solid): Standing By
  • Red Bars (Flashing): Ground Fault
  • Red Bars (Solid): General Fault

5.6 NACS Connector Button Functionality

The button on the NACS connector has two primary functions:

  • Press: Briefly press the button to open your vehicle's charge port door.
  • Press and Hold: Press and hold the button to release the latch and safely unplug the charging handle from your vehicle.

5.7 Automatic Memory Function

The charger automatically remembers and applies your last selected charging current setting. This allows for instant charging without needing to readjust the amperage each time you connect your vehicle.

6. Compatibility

The SEGUMA Level 1/2 Tesla Charger is designed for broad compatibility:

  • Tesla Models: Fully compatible with all Tesla models including Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck.
  • Future NACS EVs: Compatible with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) equipped with NACS charging ports from 2025 onwards.
  • J1772 Vehicles: Not directly supported. A Tesla-to-J1772 adapter (not included) is required for charging vehicles with a J1772 port.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your charger.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the charger and cable with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the cable, plugs, and connector for any signs of damage, wear, or corrosion. If any damage is found, discontinue use and contact customer support.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the charger in the provided portable storage bag in a clean, dry place. Avoid kinking or bending the cable sharply.
  • Weather Resistance: The charger is rated IP66 for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. However, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
