1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your SEGUMA Level 1/2 EV Charger (Model EV-ACS2402U). This portable electric vehicle charging station (EVSE) offers versatile charging options for your electric vehicle, supporting both Level 1 (110-120V) and Level 2 (220-240V) charging. 2. Product Features

  • Level 1 & Level 2 Dual-Volt Charging: Equipped with a NEMA 14-30 plug for 240V dryer outlets, providing faster home EV charging. Includes a NEMA 14-30 to NEMA 5-15 adapter for Level 1 charging via standard 110-120V household outlets.
  • Adjustable Current for Safety Charging: Offers 5 selectable current levels (10A, 12A, 16A, 20A, and 24A) to optimize charging speed and protect your electrical system. Allows downgrading for older sockets or aluminum wire circuits.
  • Extra-Long 25ft UL Certified Extension Cable: Features a premium 25ft UL certified cable made of high-grade, flexible material for convenient and reliable connection.
  • Scheduled Charging & Real-time Monitor TFT Screen: The 1.77" TFT screen displays real-time charging data (current, voltage, charging time, status). The schedule charging function allows setting specific charging times to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates.
  • Universal J1772 Compatibility: Equipped with a standard SAE J1772 coupler, compatible with most Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs) in North America. Tesla vehicles require a J1772 adapter (not included).
  • Rugged, Fire-Retardant & Weatherproof: The control box is IP66 waterproof and rated UL 94V-0 for flame resistance, designed to withstand extreme weather and heavy daily use for indoor and outdoor charging.

4. Setup and Installation

The SEGUMA EV Charger is designed for straightforward setup. Follow these steps for safe installation and use.

4.1 Choosing a Power Outlet

  • Level 2 Charging (240V): Use a NEMA 14-30 dryer outlet. Ensure the circuit breaker is rated appropriately (e.g., 30A for 24A charging).
  • Level 1 Charging (110-120V): Attach the NEMA 5-15 adapter to the NEMA 14-30 plug and connect to a standard household outlet. Adjust the current setting to 10A or 12A for safety.

4.2 Mounting the Charger

The control box and connector can be wall-mounted for convenience.

  • Securely attach the control box holder and connector bracket to a sturdy wall using appropriate fasteners.
  • Place the charger control box into its holder and hang the J1772 connector in its bracket when not in use.

4.3 Connecting to Your Vehicle

The charging process is simple:

  1. Plug the charger into the appropriate NEMA 14-30 or NEMA 5-15 outlet.
  2. Set your desired amperage (10A, 12A, 16A, 20A, or 24A) and optionally preset a charging start/end time using the buttons on the charger.
  3. Connect the J1772 connector to your vehicle's charging port. The indicator will flash green to show charging has started.

5.1 Adjustable Current Settings

The charger allows you to select from 5 current levels (10A, 12A, 16A, 20A, 24A) to match your vehicle's needs and your electrical system's capacity. This feature helps prevent overheating and optimizes charging speed.

5.2 Scheduled Charging

Utilize the scheduled charging function to set specific times for your vehicle to charge. This is beneficial for taking advantage of lower electricity rates during off-peak hours.

5.3 Real-time Monitoring

The 1.77" TFT screen on the charger displays live charging data, including current, voltage, charging time, and status, allowing you to monitor the process at a glance.

  • Lightning Protection: Safeguards against lightning strikes.
  • Leakage Protection: Prevents electrical leakage.

  • Undervoltage Protection: Ensures stable voltage supply.
  • Overheat Protection: Automatically stops charging if temperature exceeds 85°C (185°F). Unplug and replug to resume after cooling.
  • Overcharge Protection: Prevents battery overcharging.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SEGUMA EV Charger, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the charger clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Regularly inspect the cable and connectors for any signs of damage, wear, or corrosion. Do not use the charger if any damage is found.
  • Ensure the charging port on your vehicle is clean and dry before connecting the charger.
  • Store the charger in its portable storage bag when not in use, especially during travel, to protect it from physical damage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SEGUMA EV Charger, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Charger not powering on: Ensure the power plug is fully inserted into the wall outlet and the circuit breaker is not tripped.
  • Charging not starting: Verify that the J1772 connector is securely plugged into your vehicle's charging port. Check the charger's display for any error messages.
  • Overheat protection activated: If the charger stops due to overheating (temperature above 85°C), unplug it from the power source and allow it to cool down before reconnecting.
  • Slow charging speed: Check the selected amperage setting on the charger. Ensure your electrical circuit can support the desired amperage.
  • Vehicle not recognized: For Tesla vehicles, ensure you are using a compatible J1772 to Tesla adapter.
