Setup

Setting Your Personal Combination

The document box comes with a default combination of 0-0-0-0. Follow these steps to set your personal 4-digit combination:

1. Unlock the box with the default code: Ensure the dials are set to 0-0-0-0 and turn the key cylinder to the unlock position.
2. Push the internal lever from A to B: Locate the small lever on the inside of the lock mechanism. While the box is open, push this lever from position 'A' to position 'B'.
3. Roll the dials to set your new code: With the lever in position 'B', rotate the number dials to your desired 4-digit combination. Choose a memorable but secure code.
4. Push the internal lever back to A: Once your new code is set, return the internal lever from position 'B' back to 'A'. Your new combination is now set.

Important: Remember your new combination. If you forget it, refer to the "Forgot Combination" section under Troubleshooting.

Using the Key Lock

The box also includes a key lock for additional security or as an alternative to the combination. Insert one of the provided keys into the keyhole and turn it to lock or unlock the box. Keep backup keys in a safe, separate location.

Operation

Opening the Box

• Using the Combination: Rotate the dials to your set 4-digit combination. Turn the key cylinder to the unlock position. The lid will then be free to open.
• Using the Key: Insert a key into the keyhole and turn it to the unlock position. The lid will then be free to open.

Closing and Securing the Box

• Close the lid firmly.
• To lock with combination: Scramble the dials after closing the lid.
• To lock with key: Insert the key, turn it to the lock position, and remove the key.

Always ensure the box is securely locked to protect its contents.

Maintenance

• Clean the exterior of the box with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Periodically check the lock mechanism for smooth operation. Do not force the lock if it feels stiff.
• Store the box in a dry environment to prolong its lifespan.

Troubleshooting

Forgot Combination

If you forget your set combination, you can recover it using the backup keys and a specific procedure:

1. Insert the key & turn right: Insert one of your backup keys into the keyhole and turn it clockwise to the unlock position.
2. Press & hold the back tab: While the key is turned, locate and press the small tab on the back of the combination lock mechanism. Hold it down.
3. Gently roll the digit wheel: While holding the tab, gently rotate the first digit wheel (from left to right) until you feel a slight resistance or click. This indicates the correct digit.
4. Repeat for remaining digits: Repeat step 3 for the second, third, and fourth digit wheels. Once all four digits are found, this is your current combination.

Note: This recovery method requires the key to be in the unlock position. If you do not have the key, combination recovery is not possible.

Lock Mechanism Feels Stiff

If the combination dials or key turn stiffly, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant (not oil-based) to the moving parts. Do not force the mechanism.
