2. Product Overview

3. Setup
- No Batteries Required: The CHICIRIS VT-05 is self-powered and does not require any batteries for operation.
- Prepare the Soil: For accurate readings, ensure the soil is moist. If the soil is dry, water it thoroughly and wait 20-30 minutes before testing. Remove any debris, rocks, or organic matter from the testing area.
- Clean the Probe: Before first use and after each use, gently wipe the metal probe with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soil residue. This prevents contamination and ensures accurate readings.
4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to measure soil pH and moisture levels:
- Insert the Probe: Insert the metal probe into the soil vertically, pushing it down until the entire metal part is submerged. Ensure good contact with the soil. Avoid forcing the probe into hard soil, as this may damage it.
- Wait for Reading: Allow the tester to remain in the soil for approximately 60 seconds for the needle on the dial to stabilize.
- Read pH Level: The top scale on the dial indicates the pH level, ranging from 3 to 8. Read the value indicated by the needle.
- Read Moisture Level: The bottom scale on the dial indicates the moisture level, typically marked as DRY, MOIST, or WET. Read the value indicated by the needle.
- Remove and Clean: Carefully remove the probe from the soil. Wipe the probe clean with a damp cloth immediately after use.
Note: For best results, take multiple readings in different spots within the same area and average the results.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Always clean the metal probe thoroughly with a damp cloth after each use to prevent soil buildup and ensure accurate future readings. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store the tester in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep the probe clean and protected.
- Avoid Immersion: Do not immerse the main body of the tester in water. Only the metal probe is designed for soil contact.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Reading/Inaccurate Reading:
- Ensure the soil is sufficiently moist. Dry soil will not yield accurate readings.
- Check if the metal probe is clean. Residue can interfere with conductivity.
- Ensure the probe is fully inserted into the soil and has good contact.
- Allow sufficient time (at least 60 seconds) for the needle to stabilize.
- Probe Damage: Avoid forcing the probe into hard or rocky soil. If the probe is bent or damaged, the accuracy may be compromised.
