Setup and Installation

Step 1: Attach the Mount to Your Desk

The Maclean MC-137 offers two mounting options: desk clamp or grommet mount. Choose the method suitable for your desk.

  • Desk Clamp: Secure the clamp assembly to the edge of your desk. Ensure the clamp is tightened firmly to prevent movement.
  • Grommet Mount: If your desk has a grommet hole, use the provided grommet base and hardware to secure the mount through the hole.

Ensure the main pole is vertical and stable before proceeding.

Step 2: Attach VESA Plates to Monitors

Attach the VESA plates to the back of your monitors using the appropriate screws from the hardware kit. Ensure the screws are tightened securely but do not overtighten.

Step 3: Install Monitor Arms and Monitors

  • Slide the central monitor arm onto the main pole and secure it at the desired height.
  • Slide the two gas spring arms onto the main pole, positioning them above or below the central arm as needed.
  • Carefully slide the monitors (with attached VESA plates) onto the corresponding arms. Ensure they click into place or are secured with the provided locking mechanism.
  • Adjust the height of the central monitor arm individually during installation to achieve an ergonomic and uniform display setup.

Step 4: Cable Management

Route your monitor and power cables through the integrated cable management clips on the arms and main pole. This helps keep your workspace tidy and prevents cable clutter.

Operating Instructions and Adjustments

The Maclean MC-137 offers extensive adjustability for an ergonomic viewing experience.

Gas Spring Tension Adjustment

The two side arms feature gas springs for smooth and continuous height adjustment. If a monitor sags or rises too easily, adjust the gas spring tension using the provided Allen key. Turn clockwise to increase tension (for heavier monitors) and counter-clockwise to decrease tension (for lighter monitors).

Monitor Position Adjustments

  • Height Adjustment: The gas spring arms allow for effortless vertical movement of the monitors. The central monitor's height can be set during installation.
  • Tilt: Each monitor can be tilted from -45° to +45° to reduce glare and optimize viewing angles.
  • Swivel: Monitors can swivel laterally by ±90° at the VESA plate connection.
  • Rotation: The arms can rotate 180° at the joints and around the main pole, allowing for flexible positioning and screen orientation (landscape or portrait).

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the mount with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Periodic Checks: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Re-tighten if necessary.
  • Gas Spring: The gas springs are designed for long-term use and generally require no maintenance. If performance degrades, ensure the tension is correctly adjusted for your monitor's weight.

Troubleshooting

  • Monitor Sags or Does Not Stay in Position: The gas spring tension may be too low for the monitor's weight. Increase the gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise with the provided Allen key.
  • Monitor Rises Too Easily: The gas spring tension may be too high for the monitor's weight. Decrease the gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise.
  • Mount Feels Unstable: Ensure the desk clamp or grommet mount is securely tightened to the desk. Check all arm connections for tightness.
  • Monitors Are Not Level: Adjust the individual height of the VESA plates or the central arm on the main pole. Fine-tune tilt adjustments on each monitor.
