Operating Instructions

Offline Cloning

The MAIWO K10835N supports bidirectional offline cloning between M.2 NVMe and M.2 SATA, and between M.2 NVMe and 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drives. Ensure the target drive has equal or greater capacity than the source drive.

Diagram illustrating multiple clone modes: NVMe to SATA and SATA to NVMe

Image: Multiple clone modes supported by the docking station. This includes NVMe → M.2 SATA, NVMe → 2.5/3.5 inch SATA, M.2 SATA → NVMe, and 2.5/3.5 inch SATA → NVMe. Note: M.2 SATA and 2.5/3.5 inch SATA bidirectional cloning is not supported.

Important: Do NOT connect the cloner to a PC when performing an offline clone.

  1. Choose Clone Mode: Use the Clone Direction Switch to select the desired cloning direction (e.g., NVMe → SATA or SATA → NVMe). Insert the source and target hard drives into their corresponding slots. Ensure the target drive's capacity is larger than or equal to the source drive's capacity.
Step 1 of offline cloning: Selecting clone mode and inserting drives

Image: Step 1 of offline cloning. Choose the clone mode using the direction switch and insert hard drives into the correct slots. The note emphasizes that the target drive's capacity must be larger than the source drive's.

  2. Connect Power and Power On: Connect the docking station to a power socket using the 12V 3A power adapter. Press the Power Button.
Step 2 of offline cloning: Connecting power and pressing the power button

Image: Step 2 of offline cloning. Connect the docking station to a power socket and press the power button.

  3. Initiate Clone: Long press the Clone Button for 3 seconds after both the power indicator and hard drive indicators light up. Release the Clone Button when all four progress indicators flash. Immediately press the Clone Button once again. The 25% progress indicator will flash, indicating the clone process has started.
Step 3 of offline cloning: Initiating the clone process

Image: Step 3 of offline cloning. Long press the clone button for 3 seconds, then release and press again to start the cloning process.

  4. Clone Completion: The clone process is complete when all 25%-100% four indicators light up steadily. The hard drives can be safely removed after powering off the docking station.
Step 4 of offline cloning: Clone completion and drive removal

Image: Step 4 of offline cloning. The clone is finished when all progress indicators are lit. Drives can be removed after power off.

Read and Write Steps (Connecting to PC)

When connected to a computer, the docking station acts as an external drive reader.

  1. Insert Drives: Insert the M.2 NVMe, M.2 SATA, or 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drives into their respective slots.
  2. Connect to Power and PC: Connect the docking station to power and then to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  3. Access Drives: Press the Power Button. Once the power indicator and corresponding drive indicators light up, open "Disk Management" (Windows) or "Disk Utility" (macOS) to find and initialize new drives if necessary.

Image: Steps for read and write operations. Insert drives, connect to power and PC, then press the power button to access drives. Note: If both 2.5/3.5 inch SATA and M.2 SATA SSDs are inserted, only the 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drive will be recognized by default. Remove the 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drive to read the M.2 SATA SSD.

Simultaneous Drive Access

The docking station can simultaneously recognize an M.2 NVMe SSD and one SATA protocol drive (either M.2 SATA or 2.5/3.5 inch SATA) when connected to a computer.

Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device during operation, especially during long cloning processes, as drives can generate heat.
  • Always power off the docking station before inserting or removing drives to prevent data corruption or damage.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Drives not recognized by computer.
Solution:
  • Ensure the docking station is powered on and connected correctly to the computer via the USB cable.
  • Check if the drive indicators are lit.
  • For new drives, they may need to be initialized and formatted in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
  • If both a 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drive and an M.2 SATA SSD are inserted, the device will only recognize the 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drive. Remove the 2.5/3.5 inch SATA drive to access the M.2 SATA SSD.
  • Ensure M.2 drives are inserted into the correct slot (NVMe into NVMe slot, SATA into SATA slot).
Issue: Offline cloning fails or does not start.
Solution:
  • Verify that the target drive's capacity is equal to or larger than the source drive's capacity.
  • Ensure the clone direction switch is set correctly.
  • Confirm the power adapter is securely connected and the device is powered on.
  • Follow the cloning steps precisely, especially the timing for pressing the Clone Button.
  • Ensure the docking station is NOT connected to a computer during offline cloning.
Issue: Device or drives get hot during operation.
Solution:
  • This is normal for high-speed data transfer and cloning. Ensure the device is in a well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid covering the device's ventilation holes.
