Wiring Diagram

Image: Wiring diagram for the Ortis timer switch. The diagram illustrates connecting the BLACK wire to the LINE, the BLUE wire to the LOAD, and the WHITE wire to the NEUTRAL. Wire nuts are used for secure connections.
Step-by-Step Installation:
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the switch you are replacing and turn it OFF.
- Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and unscrew the old switch from the electrical box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch.
- Identify Wires: Identify the Line (incoming power), Load (to light/appliance), and Neutral wires in your electrical box. A neutral wire (usually white) is required for this timer switch. If you do not have a neutral wire, this switch is not compatible.
- Connect Wires: Using the provided wire nuts, connect the wires from the Ortis timer switch to your household wiring as follows:
- Connect the BLACK wire from the timer to the LINE (hot) wire from your electrical box.
- Connect the BLUE wire from the timer to the LOAD wire (to the light/appliance).
- Connect the WHITE wire from the timer to the NEUTRAL wire from your electrical box.
- Mount Switch: Carefully fold the wires into the electrical box and secure the timer switch with the provided mounting screws.
- Install Wall Plate: Attach your standard wall plate (not included) over the timer switch.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.
5. Controls Overview

6. Initial Setup
After installation and restoring power, the device will require initial setup.
Setting Current Time and Date:
- Press the Mode key until the time setting appears.
- Use the Increase and Decrease keys to set the current hour, then press On/Off to confirm.
- Repeat for minutes and day of the week.
Setting Latitude and Longitude (for Sunrise/Sunset):
This feature allows the timer to automatically adjust ON/OFF times based on local sunrise and sunset.
- Press the Mode key until the latitude/longitude setting appears.
- Use the Increase and Decrease keys to input your local latitude and longitude values. A chart of major cities may be provided in the full manual for reference, or you can look up your specific coordinates online.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) Adjustment:
The timer can be configured to automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. Refer to the full manual for specific steps to enable or disable this feature.
7. Operating Modes
The Ortis timer switch offers three primary operating modes:
7.1 Automatic Mode (Sunrise/Sunset & Fixed Schedules)

Image: Illustration of the timer switch's automatic control, showing lights turning off at sunrise and on at sunset. The blue backlit LCD screen is visible, indicating clear readability in the dark.
In Automatic Mode, the timer operates based on programmed schedules, including sunrise/sunset times or custom ON/OFF times.
- Sunrise/Sunset Control: Once latitude and longitude are set, the timer automatically calculates and adjusts ON/OFF times daily based on local sunrise and sunset. An offset can be applied to turn lights on/off before or after these times.
- Fixed Schedules: Up to 7 custom ON/OFF programs can be set for specific times and days of the week.
7.2 Random Mode

Image: A visual representation of the timer's random mode, designed to enhance home security by simulating occupancy. Lights turn on and off at varied times, creating a 'lived-in' appearance.
Random Mode varies the ON/OFF times of your lights or appliances slightly to simulate occupancy, enhancing home security when you are away.
- To activate Random Mode, press the Mode key until "Random" is displayed.
- The timer will then randomly adjust your programmed ON/OFF times within a certain window.
7.3 Manual Mode
Manual Mode allows you to override any programmed schedules and turn the connected load ON or OFF instantly.
- Press the On/Off key to toggle the connected load between ON and OFF.
- The timer will remain in the manually set state until the next programmed event or until Manual Mode is exited.
