1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the DIYtoolifz 18GA Cordless 2-in-1 Brad Nailer & Staple Gun. This versatile tool is designed for various woodworking and carpentry tasks, offering both brad nailing and stapling capabilities. For optimal performance, use a 4.0Ah or higher capacity Milwaukee 18V battery (not included).

2. Safety Information

Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this tool. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • Always wear eye protection when operating the tool.
  • Ensure the safety contact tip is fully depressed against the workpiece before firing to prevent accidental discharge.
  • Keep hands and body parts away from the firing area.
  • Disconnect the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
  • Use only the specified 18-gauge brad nails (3/4" to 2") and 18-gauge staples (3/4" to 1-9/16").

  • Safety Contact Pin: Prevents accidental firing.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

This tool is compatible with Milwaukee 18V batteries. For best performance, a 4.0Ah or higher capacity battery is recommended.

  1. Align the battery with the battery port on the tool.
  2. Slide the battery into the port until it clicks securely into place.

4.2. Loading Nails or Staples

The tool features a quick-release magazine for easy loading of 18-gauge brad nails (3/4" to 2") or 18-gauge staples (3/4" to 1-9/16").

  1. Press the magazine release lever to open the magazine chamber.
  2. Place the nails or staples into the magazine, ensuring they are facing the correct direction and pushed all the way to the bottom.
  3. Firmly close the magazine until you hear a secure 'CLICK'.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Adjustable Depth Control

The tool features a tool-free depth adjustment wheel to control how deep fasteners are driven into the material. This ensures a perfect finish, whether flush, countersunk, or shallow.

  1. Locate the depth adjustment wheel near the front of the tool.
  2. Rotate the wheel to adjust the driving depth. Test on a scrap piece of material to achieve the desired depth.

5.2. Dual Firing Modes

The tool offers two firing modes for different applications:

  • Single Firing (Precision): For accurate placement of individual fasteners. Push the knob to the left side. Depress the safety contact pin against the workpiece, then squeeze the trigger to fire. Release the trigger and safety contact pin after firing. Repeat for next fastener.
  • Contact Firing (Rapid-Fire): For quick, repetitive fastening. Push the knob to the right side. Squeeze the trigger and keep it squeezed. Depress the safety contact pin against the workpiece to fire. Keep squeezing the trigger all the time but release safety contact pin after firing. Repeat.

5.3. Safety & Comfort Features

The tool is equipped with a safety contact tip to prevent accidental firing and a bright LED work light for visibility in dark areas. The ergonomic design and non-slip grip ensure comfort during extended use.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Clearing Jams

The tool is designed with a hassle-free jam release mechanism. If a fastener becomes jammed:

  1. First, remove the battery from the tool.
  2. Locate the hex key (provided with the tool) and insert it into the designated slot on the front of the tool.
  3. Gently push the jammed nail or staple backwards to clear the obstruction.
  4. Once cleared, re-insert the battery and resume operation.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Tool not firing:
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted.
    • Check if the safety contact pin is fully depressed against the workpiece.
    • Verify that nails/staples are loaded correctly in the magazine.
  • Fasteners not fully driven:
    • Adjust the depth control wheel to a deeper setting.
    • Ensure the battery has sufficient charge.
    • Confirm the correct fastener size is being used for the material.
  • Jams occurring frequently:
    • Follow the jam clearing procedure outlined in Section 6.1.
    • Ensure fasteners are of good quality and not bent or damaged.
    • Avoid rapid firing in single-fire mode.
  • LED Indicator:
    • Green: Full battery.
    • Red: Low battery.
    • Flashing Green: Overheat. Allow the tool to cool down.
