4. Setup
4.1 Magnetic Attachment
The SSD features a magnetic design for easy attachment to compatible devices. For devices without native MagSafe, use the included magnetic attraction plate.
- Ensure your device (phone, tablet, or laptop) has a clean, flat surface for attachment.
- If your device does not have native MagSafe, peel the adhesive backing from the magnetic attraction plate.
- Carefully align and press the magnetic attraction plate onto the desired location on your device or device case. Allow sufficient time for the adhesive to bond.
- Align the Bestoss SSD with the magnetic area on your device or the attached plate. The magnets will securely snap the SSD into place.
4.2 Connecting to Devices
Use the provided USB-C to USB-C cable to connect the SSD to your device. If your device only has a USB-A port, use the included USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Note: For iPhone 14 and earlier models, compatibility is not supported. Ensure your device has a USB-C port for direct connection or use the adapter for USB-A ports.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 File Transfer (Apple Devices)
To transfer photos and files from your Apple iPhone (15/16/17 Pro Series) or iPad to the Bestoss SSD:
- Connect the SSD to your Apple device using the USB-C cable.
- Open the 'Files' app on your iPhone/iPad.
- Navigate to the photos or files you wish to transfer.
- Select the desired items and choose 'Save to Files' or 'Move'.
- Browse to 'Bestoss P01' under Locations and tap 'Save'.
5.2 File Transfer (Android Devices)
To transfer photos and files from your Android device to the Bestoss SSD:
- Connect the SSD to your Android device (Android 4.4 or higher with OTG functionality support).
- Open the 'Files' or 'File Manager' app.
- Navigate to the photos or files you wish to transfer (e.g., 'Images').
- Select the desired items and choose 'Move'.
- Select 'USB storage' (which represents the Bestoss SSD) as the destination and confirm.
5.3 4K ProRes HDR / Log Recording (iPhone 15/16/17 Pro Series)
The Bestoss SSD supports direct 4K 120FPS ProRes video recording from compatible iPhone Pro models:
- Connect the SSD to your iPhone 15/16/17 Pro Series device.
- Go to Settings > Camera > Formats.
- Enable ProRes.
- Open the Camera app.
- Tap ProRes HDR and ensure USB-C Enabled is displayed, indicating recording to the external SSD.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the SSD. Avoid liquid cleaners.
- Storage: Store the SSD in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: While durable, avoid dropping the SSD or subjecting it to strong impacts.
- Ejection: Always safely eject the SSD from your device before disconnecting to prevent data corruption.
7. Troubleshooting
- SSD not recognized by device:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the SSD and your device.
- Try a different USB port on your computer or a different cable.
- Restart your device.
- For phones, ensure OTG functionality is enabled if required by your Android device.
- Verify device compatibility (iPhone 14 and earlier models are not supported).
- Slow transfer speeds:
- Ensure your device supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 for optimal speeds. Older USB standards will result in lower speeds.
- Close other applications that might be using system resources.
- Check the cable for damage.
- Magnetic attachment is weak:
- Ensure the magnetic attraction plate is properly installed on your device or case if not using native MagSafe.
