5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your RV power converter.
5.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Ensure the installation location is secure, dry, and has adequate ventilation.
- Verify that the AC input voltage matches the converter's requirements (120V AC).
- Confirm that the battery type and capacity are compatible with the 65 Amp output.
5.2 Mounting
Mount the converter securely to a stable surface using appropriate fasteners. Ensure there is sufficient clearance around the unit for airflow, especially near the cooling fan.
5.3 Wiring Connections
Refer to the diagram below for connection points. Always ensure AC power is disconnected before wiring.

Figure 5.1: Quick installation diagram showing key components and connection points.
- AC Input: Connect the 120V AC input cable to a suitable power source.
- DC Output Terminals (2): Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to your RV's 12V DC distribution panel or directly to the battery bank. Ensure correct polarity.
- Grounding: Connect the ground terminal (FG) to the RV chassis ground.
- Fuse (1): The unit is equipped with fuses for protection. Ensure they are correctly seated.
- 3-Mode Adjustable Selector Switch (4): Set this switch according to your battery type (Lead-Acid or LiFePO4) or to Fixed Output mode.
- Potentiometer (5): Used for fine-tuning voltage in Fixed Output mode, if necessary. Refer to operating instructions for details.
6. Operating Instructions
Once installed, operate the converter as follows:
6.1 Powering On/Off
- To power on, connect the AC input cable to a live 120V AC outlet. The unit will automatically begin operation based on the selected mode.
- To power off, disconnect the AC input cable from the power source.
6.2 Selecting Charging Mode
Use the 3-mode adjustable selector switch on the unit to choose the appropriate charging mode:
- Lead-Acid Mode: For charging traditional lead-acid batteries (e.g., flooded, AGM, gel). The converter will apply a multi-stage charging profile optimized for these battery types (typically 12V-14.6V).
- LiFePO4 Mode: For charging Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. This mode provides a charging profile specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries (typically 12V-14.6V).
- Fixed Voltage Output Mode: Provides a constant voltage output. Selectable options are 13.0V, 14.6V, and 16.5V. This mode is suitable for powering 12V DC devices directly or for specific battery charging requirements where a fixed voltage is preferred. Adjust the potentiometer (if available and necessary) for fine-tuning the voltage within this mode.

Figure 6.1: Illustration of the multi-stage charging process (Bulk, Normal, Trickle charge).
6.3 Multi-Stage Charging Explained
The multi-stage charging process optimizes battery charging and extends battery lifespan:
- Bulk Mode: Rapidly charges the battery by delivering maximum current until the voltage reaches a set level.
- Absorption Mode: Maintains a constant voltage while the current gradually decreases, preventing overcharging and battery damage.
- Float Mode: Once the battery is fully charged, the converter switches to a lower, constant voltage to maintain the battery at optimal charge without overcharging.
- Storage Mode: Minimizes self-discharge and extends battery lifespan during periods of inactivity.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your power converter.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the unit with a dry cloth. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Connection Inspection: Regularly check all electrical connections for tightness and signs of corrosion. Tighten any loose connections.
- Fuse Replacement: If a fuse blows, disconnect AC power, identify the blown fuse, and replace it with a new fuse of the exact same type and rating. The unit comes with spare fuses.
