5. Device Layout and Buttons

Button Functions:

  • MEAS (Laser/Measure): Activates the laser, initiates single or continuous measurement.
  • UNIT: Long press to switch measurement units (M/In/Ft).
  • Function (Area/Volume/Pythagorean): Cycles through different measurement modes.
  • Switch (Measurement References): Changes the measurement reference point (front or back of the device).
  • +: Addition function for measurements.
  • -: Subtraction function for measurements.
  • Mute ON/OFF: Toggles the sound on or off.
  • CLEAR (Power Off/Data Record Clear): Short press to clear current data or exit a mode. Long press to power off the device.

6. Setup

6.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two (2) AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the CLEAR button. The display will light up.
  • Power Off: Long press the CLEAR button for approximately 3 seconds. The device will also automatically shut down after 150 seconds of inactivity.

7.2 Unit Switching

  • Long press the UNIT button to cycle through the available measurement units: Meters (M), Inches (In), and Feet (Ft).

7.3 Reference Point Setting

  • Press the SWITCH button to toggle between the front and back reference points.
  • The display will show an icon indicating whether the measurement is taken from the front edge or the back edge of the device.

8. Measurement Modes

8.1 Single Distance Measurement

  1. Point the laser at the target.
  2. Press the MEAS button once. The measured distance will appear on the display.

8.2 Continuous Measurement

  1. From single measurement mode, press the MEAS button repeatedly. The device will continuously measure and display the current distance (MAX/MIN values will also be shown).
  2. Press MEAS again to stop continuous measurement.

8.3 Area Measurement

  1. Press the Function button once. The area icon will appear on the display.
  2. Measure the first side (length) by pressing MEAS.
  3. Measure the second side (width) by pressing MEAS.
  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

8.4 Volume Measurement

  1. Press the Function button twice. The volume icon will appear on the display.
  2. Measure the length by pressing MEAS.
  3. Measure the width by pressing MEAS.
  4. Measure the height by pressing MEAS.
  5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

8.5 Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)

This mode is used to calculate inaccessible heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.

Pythagorean Mode 1 (Two Points)

  1. Press the Function button three times. The Pythagorean mode 1 icon will appear.
  2. Measure the hypotenuse (diagonal distance) by pressing MEAS.
  3. Measure the horizontal or vertical leg by pressing MEAS.
  4. The device will calculate and display the unknown leg.

Pythagorean Mode 2 (Three Points)

  1. Press the Function button four times. The Pythagorean mode 2 icon will appear.
  2. Measure the first hypotenuse by pressing MEAS.
  3. Measure the second hypotenuse by pressing MEAS.
  4. Measure the base by pressing MEAS.
  5. The device will calculate and display the height.

9. Maintenance

  • Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Do not immerse the device in water or expose it to excessive moisture.
  • Store the device in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Protect the laser lens from scratches and dirt.

10. Troubleshooting
