4. Operating Instructions

The ROCKBROS Rear Bike Rack is designed for carrying various items, enhancing your cycling experience.

  • Load Capacity: The rack has a maximum load-bearing capacity of 55 lbs (approximately 25 kg). Do not exceed this limit to ensure safety and prevent damage to the rack or your bicycle.
  • Cargo Securing: Use the included elastic cords or other appropriate straps to securely fasten your luggage, bags, or other items to the rack. Ensure items are balanced and do not obstruct your view or interfere with bike operation.
  • Side Protection: The "W" shape side bars are designed to prevent panniers or other side-mounted bags from rubbing against the rear wheel spokes.
  • Visibility: The integrated red rear reflector provides additional visibility to other road users, especially in low-light conditions.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and safe operation of your ROCKBROS Rear Bike Rack, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and quick-release mechanisms for tightness. Tighten any loose fasteners to prevent rattling or instability.
  • Cleaning: Clean the rack with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
  • Corrosion Prevention: The aluminum alloy construction is resistant to rust, but it is advisable to wipe down the rack after riding in wet conditions to prevent water spots or potential corrosion of steel components (screws).
  • Storage: If removing the rack for storage, keep all components together in a dry place.

6. Troubleshooting and Compatibility

This rack is designed for broad compatibility but has specific limitations:

  • Compatibility: Mainly suitable for most mountain bikes. Fits round seat tube diameters under 3.2 cm (1.26 inches).
  • Incompatibility: This rack is NOT suitable for:
    • Soft-tailed bikes (full suspension bikes)
    • Carbon fiber bikes
    • Foldable bikes
    • Small wheel bicycles
    • Rear suspension bikes
    • Bikes with non-round or oversized seat posts
  • Loose Rack: If the rack feels loose after installation, re-check all connection points, especially the quick-release clamp on the seat post and the screws on the support rods. Ensure all spacers are correctly placed.
  • Pannier Interference: If panniers touch the wheel, ensure the "W" shape side bars are correctly installed and consider using smaller panniers or adjusting their position.
