Setup

Before starting the tumbling process, ensure all components are present and the unit is placed on a stable, level surface.

1. Prepare the Tumbling Barrel

  1. Unscrew the hand knob on the top of the barrel.
  2. Carefully remove the outer lid and then the inner rubber lid. You may need to gently pry it off with a flat-head screwdriver or squeeze the barrel to release the inner lid.
  3. Rinse the barrel thoroughly to ensure it is clean before adding materials.

2. Load Rocks and Grit

  • Add rough stones to the barrel. For best results, fill the tumbler barrel about 1/2 to 2/3 full. If the tumbler is too full, the rocks cannot move as freely and won't polish as well.
  • Pour in the appropriate grit for the current polishing stage (e.g., Coarse Grind Grit #1 for the first cycle).
  • Add water to just cover the top of the rocks and grit.

3. Seal the Barrel

  1. Place the inner rubber lid back onto the barrel, ensuring a tight seal.
  2. Place the outer lid on top and screw the hand knob back down firmly to secure it.
  3. Wipe off any excess water or grit from the outside of the barrel.

4. Place Barrel on Tumbler Base

  • Open the transparent cover of the tumbler base.
  • Carefully place the sealed barrel onto the rollers inside the tumbler base.
  • Close the transparent cover.

2: Medium GrindGrit #26-8 days2Lower speed for finer results, smoothing out rocks evenly.

Maintenance

  • Belt-Free Direct-Drive Motor: This design eliminates belt wear and replacement, reducing maintenance costs.
  • Cleaning: After each polishing stage, thoroughly rinse the rocks and the barrel to remove all grit. Grit can damage plumbing, so dispose of it responsibly (e.g., outside in a garden hose area, not down household drains).
  • Storage: Store the rock tumbler in a clean, dry place when not in use.

Safety Information

  • Quiet Operation: The tumbler operates at ≤35 dB, ensuring a quiet environment.
  • Overload Protection: The unit features overload protection to prevent damage.
  • Power-Off Memory: In case of power outages, the tumbler automatically resumes the remaining cycle once power is restored.
  • Low Voltage: Designed with low voltage for enhanced safety, minimizing electric shock risk.
  • Adult Supervision: Always supervise children when operating the rock tumbler.

Troubleshooting

  • Leaking Barrel: Ensure the inner rubber lid and outer lid are securely fastened. Check for any grit trapped between the seals.
  • Tumbler Stops/Slows Down: Verify the barrel is not overloaded. The recommended fill is 1/2 to 2/3 full. Ensure the power adapter is securely connected. The unit has overload protection and power-off memory, so it should resume if power was interrupted.
  • Rocks Not Polishing Evenly: Ensure the barrel is not overfilled, allowing rocks to tumble freely. Use the recommended grit amounts and cycle times for each stage. Thoroughly clean the barrel and rocks between stages to prevent coarser grit from scratching during finer polishing.
