1. Important Safety Information
Please read and understand all instructions before installing or operating this condensate pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or property damage.
- Electrical Safety: Disconnect power before servicing or installing the pump. Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded electrical outlet. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug.
- Water Safety: Do not immerse the pump in water. This pump is designed for condensate removal only.
- Installation: Install the pump in a location where it is protected from freezing temperatures. Ensure proper ventilation.
- Maintenance: Regular inspection and cleaning are essential for safe and efficient operation.
- Children: Keep children away from the pump and its operating area.

3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the pump's performance and longevity. Consult a qualified technician if you are unsure about any steps.
- Mounting: Place the pump on a level surface near the condensate source. Ensure it is easily accessible for maintenance. Secure the pump if necessary to prevent movement.
- Condensate Inlet Connection: Connect the condensate drain line from your HVAC equipment to the pump's inlet port. Ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
- Discharge Line Connection: Connect a suitable discharge tube (typically 3/8" or 1/2" ID) to the pump's outlet check valve. Route the discharge line upwards to a suitable drain, ensuring it is free of kinks and has a continuous slope downwards to the drain point. Avoid creating siphons or excessive back pressure.
- Safety Switch Wiring: The integrated safety switch can be wired to interrupt the power to the HVAC equipment or activate an alarm in case of high water level. Refer to your HVAC equipment's manual for specific wiring instructions for a safety interlock. Always disconnect power before wiring.
- Electrical Connection: Plug the pump's power cord into a dedicated, properly grounded 230V electrical outlet.
- Testing: After installation, pour a small amount of water into the pump's reservoir to verify proper operation. The pump should activate, discharge the water, and then shut off. Check all connections for leaks.
4. Operating Instructions
The Proselect PSCPV3 condensate pump operates automatically. Once properly installed and connected to power, it will activate when the condensate level in the reservoir reaches a predetermined height and will shut off once the water is discharged.
- Automatic Operation: The pump is designed for continuous, automatic operation. No manual intervention is typically required during normal use.
- Safety Switch Activation: If the water level rises too high due to a blockage or pump malfunction, the safety switch will activate. If wired to your HVAC system, this will shut down the equipment to prevent overflow. Investigate the cause immediately if the safety switch activates.
- Power Interruption: In case of a power outage, the pump will cease operation. It will resume automatically once power is restored.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your condensate pump. Perform these checks at least once every three months, or more frequently if the environment is dusty or prone to algae growth.
- Disconnect Power: Always disconnect the pump from the electrical supply before performing any maintenance.
- Clean Reservoir: Remove the pump cover and clean the inside of the reservoir to remove any sludge, mold, or debris. A mild soap and water solution can be used. Rinse thoroughly.
- Check Float Switch: Ensure the float moves freely and is not obstructed by debris. Clean if necessary.
- Inspect Inlet/Outlet: Check the inlet and discharge lines for blockages, kinks, or leaks. Clear any obstructions.
- Test Operation: After cleaning and reassembly, reconnect power and test the pump by pouring water into the reservoir to ensure it cycles correctly.
6. Troubleshooting
Before contacting support, review the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not run | No power; tripped circuit breaker; faulty motor; float switch stuck. | Check power supply and circuit breaker. Ensure pump is plugged in. Inspect float for obstructions. If motor is faulty, contact support. |
| Pump runs continuously | Discharge line blockage; faulty check valve; float switch stuck. | Clear discharge line. Inspect/replace check valve. Clean float switch. |
| Water overflow | Pump not running; discharge line blockage; pump capacity exceeded. | Refer to "Pump does not run" or "Pump runs continuously" solutions. Ensure pump capacity matches condensate production. |
| Excessive noise | Debris in pump; pump not level; worn motor bearings. | Clean pump reservoir. Ensure pump is on a stable, level surface. If motor bearings are worn, contact support. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact Proselect customer support.
