1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read this entire instruction manual before installing and using your OSTBA Infrared Cabinet Heater. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, property damage, or personal injury. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
  • This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Use handles when moving this heater. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
  • Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  • Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged in any manner. Discard heater or return to an authorized service facility for examination and/or repair.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to OFF, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • This heater includes a tip-over safety switch and an overheat protection feature. If the heater tips over or overheats, it will automatically shut off.
  • Ensure the heater is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent accidental tipping.

2. Product Overview

The OSTBA PH-96A is a 1500W infrared cabinet heater designed for indoor use, providing efficient and even heating for rooms up to 1000 sq ft. It features 6 heating elements, a digital thermostat, ECO mode, remote control, and multiple safety protections.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove the heater from its packaging.
  2. Retain the packaging for off-season storage.
  3. Check for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If the heater appears damaged, do not operate it and contact customer support.

3.2 Placement

  • Place the heater on a firm, level surface.
  • Ensure there is at least 3 feet (0.9 m) of clearance from the front, sides, and rear of the heater to any combustible materials (e.g., furniture, curtains, bedding).
  • Do not place the heater in areas where it could be easily tipped over.
  • Avoid placing the heater in high-traffic areas to prevent accidental contact.

3.3 Power Connection

  • Ensure the heater is switched OFF before plugging it into an electrical outlet.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a 120V AC, 60Hz grounded wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

4. Operating Instructions

The heater can be operated using the control panel on the unit or the included remote control.

4.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the Power button (Power icon) on the control panel or remote to turn the heater ON or OFF.

4.2 Mode Selection

  • Press the Mode button (Mode icon) to cycle through the available heating modes:
    • High (1500W): Provides maximum heat output.
    • Low (1000W): Provides reduced heat output.
    • ECO Mode: Automatically adjusts heat output to maintain the set temperature, optimizing energy consumption.

4.3 Temperature Setting

  • Use the + and - buttons on the control panel or remote to adjust the desired temperature.
  • The temperature can be set between 41°F and 95°F (5°C and 35°C).
  • The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

4.4 Timer Function

  • Press the Timer button (Timer icon) to activate the auto shut-off timer.
  • Each press will increase the timer setting by 1 hour, from 0 to 12 hours.
  • The heater will automatically turn off once the set time has elapsed.

4.5 Child Lock

  • Press and hold the Lock button (Lock icon) for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate the child lock.
  • When activated, the control panel buttons will be disabled to prevent accidental changes.

4.6 Remote Control

  • The included remote control allows you to operate all functions of the heater from a distance.
  • Ensure the remote control has working batteries and is pointed towards the heater's receiver.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your heater.

5.1 Cleaning

  1. Always turn off the heater and unplug it from the electrical outlet before cleaning.
  2. Allow the heater to cool down completely.
  3. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  4. Gently vacuum the air intake and exhaust grilles to remove dust and lint.
  5. Ensure all parts are dry before plugging the heater back in.

5.2 Storage

  • Store the heater in a cool, dry location when not in use.
  • It is recommended to store the heater in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
