Maintenance

Cleaning the Cooking Grates

After each use, once the grill has cooled, scrape off any food residue from the porcelain-coated steel grates using a grill brush. For deeper cleaning, the grates can be removed and washed with warm, soapy water.

Grease Management System

Regularly check and empty the grease bucket to prevent overflow and potential fire hazards. Clean the grease tray as needed.

Pellet Hopper Cleanout

The hopper features a cleanout mechanism. Use this to remove unused pellets, especially before long periods of storage or when changing pellet flavors. Store pellets in a dry, airtight container.

Troubleshooting

Grill Not Igniting

  • Check if the grill is properly plugged into a grounded outlet.
  • Ensure there are enough pellets in the hopper.
  • Verify the hot rod is functioning (it should glow red during startup).

Temperature Fluctuations

  • Ensure the lid is closed during cooking to maintain consistent temperature.
  • Check for proper airflow and ensure the exhaust is not blocked.
  • Verify the auger is feeding pellets consistently.

Excessive Smoke

  • A small amount of white smoke is normal during startup.
  • If smoke is thick and dark, check for excessive ash in the fire pot or a blocked exhaust.
