1. Introduction

The Aputure Storm 700x is a powerful 700W compact COB LED video light designed for professional studio photography, film production, and video content creation. It features advanced color accuracy, robust weather resistance, and multiple control options.

2. What's in the Box

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the soft rolling case. Inspect each item for any signs of damage. If any components are damaged or missing, contact your retailer immediately.

3.2 Mounting the Lamp Head

The Storm 700x lamp head can be mounted on a baby or junior stand. Secure the lamp head using the integrated mounting bracket and the provided Lightning Clamp.

3.3 Attaching Modifiers (Bowens Mount)

The Storm 700x features a ProLock Bowens Mount for secure attachment of light modifiers such as the included Hyper Reflector or other compatible accessories. Align the modifier with the Bowens mount and twist until it locks into place. Ensure the modifier is firmly seated to prevent accidental detachment.

3.4 Connecting the Control Box and Power

  1. Connect the STORM 700x Head Cable (3m) from the lamp head to the control box.
  2. Connect the AC Power Cable (6m) to the control box and then to a suitable power outlet.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the unit.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press the power button on the control box to turn the light on or off. The display on the control box will illuminate upon power-on.

4.2 Adjusting Brightness and Color Temperature (CCT)

Use the control knobs on the control box to adjust the light intensity from 0.1% to 100% and the Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) from 2,500K to 10,000K. The display will show the current settings.

4.3 Green-Magenta Correction

The Storm 700x offers full ±G ASC MITC green-magenta correction. Navigate to the color tuning menu on the control box or via the Sidus Link app to adjust the green-magenta balance as needed for precise color matching.

4.4 Control Methods

  • On-board Control: Directly adjust settings using the control box.
  • Sidus Link App: Download the Sidus Link or Sidus Link Pro app on your smartphone or tablet for wireless Bluetooth control. This allows for advanced color tuning (Limited HSIC+, xy modes) and remote operation.
  • CRMX: For professional wireless DMX control.
  • 5-Pin DMX512: Connect to a DMX lighting controller using the 16-bit 5-Pin DMX512 in/out ports for integration into existing lighting networks.

4.5 Fan Modes

The intelligent cooling system offers four fan modes:

  • Smart: Automatically adjusts fan speed based on temperature.
  • High: Maximum cooling performance.
  • Medium: Balanced cooling and noise.
  • Silent: Minimizes fan noise for sound-sensitive environments, potentially reducing maximum output.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the light and control box with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Ensure the fan vents are clear of dust and debris to maintain optimal cooling performance.

5.2 IP65 Weather Resistance

The Storm 700x features IP65 weather resistance, protecting it from dust and water splashes. While it can be used in light rain, avoid submerging the unit or exposing it to heavy downpours. Always ensure all caps and covers are properly sealed when operating in wet conditions.

5.3 Firmware Updates

Aputure may release firmware updates to improve performance or add new features. These updates can typically be performed via the Sidus Link app. Refer to the app's instructions for the update process.

6. Troubleshooting
