1. Product Overview

2. Setup

2.1 Mounting the Scope

The Tango-MSR Compact comes with a factory-mounted ALPHA-MSR aluminum cantilever mount. To ensure proper alignment, match the white alignment line on the scope body with the corresponding cut on the mount. Secure the mount to your rifle's Picatinny rail. The mount bolts should be torqued to 65 in-lb, and the ring screws to 25 in-lb.

2.2 Battery Installation

The illuminated reticle requires a CR2032 battery. Unscrew the illumination dial cap, insert the battery with the positive (+) side facing outwards, and securely replace the cap.

2.3 Diopter Adjustment

To achieve a clear reticle image, look through the scope at a plain background (e.g., a clear sky or a blank wall). Rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located at the eyepiece) until the reticle appears sharp and in focus. This adjustment is for your eye and does not affect the target image.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Magnification Adjustment

Rotate the magnification ring (located near the eyepiece) to adjust the magnification from 1x to 8x. The included removable throw lever facilitates quick and smooth magnification changes. A fiber optic indicator on the magnification ring shows the current power setting.

3.2 Reticle Illumination

The illumination dial, located on the left side of the scope, controls the brightness of the MSR BDC-8 reticle. It offers 6 adjustable illumination settings, with an 'off' position between each increment. Rotate the dial to select the desired brightness level for various lighting conditions.

3.3 Windage and Elevation Adjustments

The scope features robust metal turrets for windage (right side) and elevation (top). These turrets are capped to prevent accidental adjustments. Remove the caps to access the adjustment dials. Each click provides a precise, repeatable adjustment. The second focal plane design ensures the reticle remains accurate and proportional across all magnification levels, making holdovers consistent.

3.4 MSR BDC-8 Reticle

The MSR BDC-8 reticle is designed for bullet drop compensation, providing aiming points for various distances. Familiarize yourself with the reticle's specific subtensions and corresponding bullet drop for your chosen ammunition and firearm. The illuminated center dot enhances visibility in low-light conditions.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Use the provided lens cloth or a high-quality optical cleaning cloth to gently wipe the lenses. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the coatings. For stubborn dirt, a small amount of lens cleaning solution can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.

4.2 Storage

When not in use, protect the lenses with the included lay-flat flip-back lens covers. Store the scope in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

4.3 Battery Replacement

If the reticle illumination dims or fails, replace the CR2032 battery as described in Section 2.2. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Reticle Not Illuminating

  • Check if the battery is correctly installed with the positive (+) side facing outwards.
  • Ensure the battery is fresh. Replace if necessary.
  • Verify the illumination dial is turned to an active brightness setting (not an 'off' position).

5.2 Blurry Image

  • Adjust the diopter setting for your eye (refer to Section 2.3).
  • Ensure the target is within the scope's effective range.
  • Clean the lenses if they are dirty (refer to Section 4.1).

5.3 Inconsistent Point of Impact

  • Verify the scope mount is securely attached and torqued to specifications (refer to Section 2.1).
  • Ensure the scope is properly leveled on the rifle.
  • Check for any loose components on the rifle or scope.
