Important Safety Information

Setup and First Use

1. Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

1. Remove all packaging materials, labels, and stickers from the coffee maker.
2. Wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, reusable 12-cup filter, reusable single-serve filter, pod adapter, and measuring scoop in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. All these accessories are dishwasher safe.
3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.

2. Water Tank Installation and Filling

1. Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface.
2. Remove the 40oz removable water tank from the back of the unit.
3. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX fill line.
4. Place the water tank back onto the unit, ensuring it is seated correctly.

3. Filter and Pod Adapter Placement

Depending on your brewing preference, prepare the appropriate filter system:

• For Carafe Brewing: Ensure the reusable 12-cup gold tone filter is placed in the carafe brew basket.
• For Single-Serve Pods: Place the pod adapter into the single-serve brew chamber.
• For Single-Serve Ground Coffee: Place the reusable single-serve filter into the single-serve brew chamber.

4. Initial Rinse Cycle (Priming)

Before brewing coffee, perform an initial rinse cycle to clean the internal components.

1. Ensure the water tank is filled.
2. Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
3. Do not add coffee grounds or a pod for this cycle.
4. Press the "Carafe" button on the touch display, then press the power button to start a full carafe brew cycle with only water.
5. Once complete, discard the hot water from the carafe.

5. Setting the Clock

To set the current time for the programmable timer function:

1. Press the "Clock" button on the touch display.
2. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the hour. Press "Clock" again to confirm the hour.
3. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the minute. Press "Clock" again to confirm the minute.

Operating Instructions

Brewing a Full Carafe (Ground Coffee)

1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
2. Open the lid to the carafe brew basket.
3. Place the reusable 12-cup gold tone filter into the brew basket. Alternatively, you can use a standard paper filter (#6 cone filter).
4. Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. Use the included measuring scoop (approximately 1 scoop per cup for medium strength).
5. Close the lid securely.
6. Place the empty glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
7. On the touch display, select "Carafe".
8. Optionally, select your desired brew strength (Light, Medium, Bold) using the "Strength" button.
9. Press the power button to begin brewing. The display will show the brewing progress.
10. The coffee maker will automatically keep the carafe warm for up to 4 hours after brewing.

Programmable Brewing (Carafe)

To set the coffee maker to brew automatically at a later time:

1. Follow steps 1-6 for "Brewing a Full Carafe".
2. Press the "Program" button on the touch display. The display will flash "Program".
3. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the desired brew time. Press "Program" again to confirm the hour.
4. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the desired brew time. Press "Program" again to confirm the minute.
5. The "Program" indicator will illuminate, confirming the timer is set. The coffee maker will brew at the programmed time.

Brewing a Single-Serve Cup (Pods or Ground Coffee)

1. Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
2. Adjust the drip tray to accommodate your cup or travel mug. The drip tray fits mugs up to 7 inches tall.
3. Open the single-serve brew chamber lid.
4. For Coffee Pods: Insert a coffee pod into the pod adapter, then place the adapter into the single-serve brew chamber.
5. For Ground Coffee: Place the reusable single-serve filter into the single-serve brew chamber. Add your desired amount of ground coffee (do not overfill).
6. Close the single-serve brew chamber lid securely.
7. Place your cup or travel mug on the adjustable drip tray.
8. On the touch display, select "Cup".
9. Select your desired cup size (6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz) using the "Size" button.
10. For iced coffee, select the "Iced" option. This will brew a concentrated coffee over ice.
11. Press the power button to begin brewing. A single-serve cup brews in under 70 seconds.

Care and Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

• Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
• Wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, reusable filters, pod adapter, and measuring scoop after each use. These components are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended).
• Empty and rinse the removable water tank daily.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker and the warming plate with a damp, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
• The touch-activated display can be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth.

Descaling

Mineral deposits (scale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water.
2. Place the empty glass carafe on the warming plate.
3. Run a full carafe brew cycle with the vinegar solution. Do not add coffee.
4. After the cycle, let the solution sit in the carafe for 15-20 minutes.
5. Discard the solution and rinse the carafe thoroughly.
6. Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water and run two full carafe brew cycles to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
7. For the single-serve side, run a few single-serve cycles with the vinegar solution and then with clean water.
8. The "Clean" indicator on the display may illuminate when descaling is recommended. Press the "Clean" button to initiate a cleaning cycle (refer to specific instructions in the product's full manual if available, otherwise follow the vinegar method).
