4. Setup
Before first use, proper setup is crucial for safe and effective operation.
Unboxing and Initial Inspection:
- Carefully remove the generator and all accessories from the packaging.
- Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during shipping. Contact customer support if any damage is found.
- Ensure all included accessories (instruction manual, propane hose connector, oil funnel, spark plug tool) are present.
Adding Engine Oil:
The generator is shipped without engine oil. You MUST add oil before the first start. Failure to do so will cause severe engine damage and void the warranty. This model requires approximately 16.2 fluid ounces of 4-cycle SAE 10W-30 oil.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Locate the oil fill port on the side of the generator (refer to Figure 4 for location).
- Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Use the provided funnel to slowly add the recommended oil until the level reaches the edge of the fill opening. Use the dipstick to verify the oil level is within the safe range.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap.

Figure 5: Oil Icon. This image shows an oil can icon, reminding users about the importance of engine oil.
Adding Fuel (Gasoline or Propane):
This generator operates on either gasoline or propane. Ensure the generator is off and cool before adding fuel.
For Gasoline:
- Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
- Open the fuel cap and carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank (capacity: 1.3 gallons). Do not overfill.
- Securely close the fuel cap.
For Propane:
- Connect one end of the provided propane hose connector to the propane inlet on the control panel.
- Connect the other end of the hose to a standard 20 lb (or larger) propane tank.
- Slowly open the valve on the propane tank.
- Perform a leak check using a leak detector or soapy water solution on all connections. Do not operate if a leak is detected.

Figure 6: Dual Fuel Capability. This image illustrates the generator connected to a propane tank, emphasizing its dual fuel functionality.
5. Operation
Follow these steps to start and operate your generator.
Starting the Generator:
- Ensure the generator is on a level, outdoor surface, away from any enclosures.
- Turn the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
- If starting from cold (engine not recently run), turn the switch to 'CHOKE'. If warm, you can go directly to 'ON'.
- Pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, if you used 'CHOKE', slowly move the switch back to 'ON' after a few seconds.
Switching Fuel Types:
The generator automatically prioritizes propane if a propane tank is connected and its valve is open. If both gasoline is in the tank and propane is connected, it will run on propane first. If propane runs out or is disconnected, it will automatically switch to gasoline (if present).
Eco Mode:
Flip the 'ECO' switch to 'ON' to activate Eco Mode. This feature adjusts the engine speed based on the load, reducing fuel consumption and noise levels when less power is required. The engine will rev up automatically when more power is drawn.
Connecting Appliances:
Once the generator is running stably, you can connect your appliances to the appropriate outlets on the control panel. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the running wattage of the generator.
- AC 120V 20A Outlets: For standard household appliances.
- AC 120V 30A RV Receptacle: For RV hookups or larger appliances.
- 12V DC Outlet: For charging 12V batteries or powering small DC accessories.
- USB Ports (5V): For charging mobile devices.

Spark Plug Access:
The spark plug is located under an access panel on the top side of the generator. Use the provided spark plug tool for removal and installation during maintenance.
Storage:
For long-term storage (over 30 days), prepare the generator to prevent fuel degradation and engine issues:
- Add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it.
- Drain all gasoline from the fuel tank and carburetor.
- If using propane, disconnect the propane tank.
- Store the generator in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your generator, refer to this section for common solutions. For more complex problems, consult the full instruction manual or contact customer support.
Common Issues:
- Engine Won't Start: Check fuel level (gasoline or propane connection), oil level, spark plug condition, and ensure the choke is set correctly for a cold start.
- No Power Output: Check AC/DC breakers on the control panel. Ensure no overload condition is present (reset if necessary).
- Engine Runs Rough: Check fuel quality, air filter cleanliness, and spark plug condition.
Indicator Lights:
The multi-function meter on the control panel provides visual indicators for various conditions:
- Low Oil Level (Yellow): Indicates the engine oil is low. The generator will shut down to prevent damage.
- Overload Indicator (Red): Illuminates when the generator is overloaded. The unit may shut down. Reduce the load and press the overload reset button.
- Running Indicator (Green): Confirms the generator is operating normally.
- CO Alarm: Activates if carbon monoxide levels are unsafe, triggering an automatic shutdown.
