Setup Instructions
1. Unpacking and Component Identification
Carefully unpack all components. Ensure the package contains the iControl unit, power adapter, and any purchased sensors (PPFD, Soil, CO₂). Inspect all items for damage.
2. Connecting the iControl Unit
- Mount the iControl unit in a suitable location within your grow tent or room, ensuring it is protected from direct water exposure.
- Connect the power adapter to the iControl unit and plug it into a power outlet.
- Connect your grow lights, fans, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers to the appropriate ports on the iControl unit or compatible iHub Pro (if applicable). Refer to the device-specific connection diagrams.

3. Connecting Optional Sensors
- PPFD Sensor: Connect the PPFD sensor cable to the designated port on the iControl unit. Position the sensor at canopy level to accurately measure light intensity.
- Soil Sensor: Connect the soil sensor cable to its port. Insert the probes into the growing medium, ensuring good contact for accurate temperature, moisture, and EC readings.
- CO₂ Sensor: Connect the CO₂ sensor cable. Place the sensor in a central location within the grow space, away from direct airflow from fans or CO₂ emitters.
4. App Download and Initial Pairing
- Download the MARS HYDRO iControl app from your mobile device's app store.
- Follow the in-app instructions to create an account and pair your iControl unit via Wi-Fi. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during the pairing process.
Operating Instructions
1. Environmental-Responsive Control
The iControl system allows you to set target environmental parameters. The controller will automatically adjust connected devices to maintain these conditions.
- Temperature & Humidity: Set desired temperature and humidity ranges. The iControl will activate fans, humidifiers, or dehumidifiers as needed.
- VPD Monitoring: Monitor Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) in real-time. Adjust temperature and humidity settings to optimize VPD for different plant growth stages.

2. Intelligent Stage-Based Automation
Configure automated light and climate strategies for different plant growth stages:
- Access the 'Scenario' or 'Automation' section in the iControl app.
- Define parameters (light schedule, temperature, humidity, VPD, CO₂) for each stage (e.g., Seedling, Vegetative, Flowering).
- Set a timeline for each stage. The system will automatically transition to the next phase based on your preset schedule.
3. Remote App Control, Data Logging & Smart Alerts
- Remote Control: Manage your grow room settings from anywhere using the iControl app.
- Data Logging: The app provides detailed historical data logs for all monitored parameters (temperature, humidity, VPD, PPFD, CO₂, soil conditions). This data can be exported for analysis.
- Smart Alerts: Configure alerts for critical events such as temperature spikes, low water levels in humidifiers, or disconnected devices. Notifications will be sent to your mobile device.

4. Sensor-Specific Operations
- PPFD Sensor: Use the app to monitor real-time Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD). Set lighting strategies to automatically adjust light output based on desired PPFD levels for different plant stages, optimizing growth and energy efficiency.
- Soil Sensor: The 3-in-1 soil sensor monitors temperature, moisture, and Electrical Conductivity (EC) in real-time. Track these parameters to improve root health and watering/nutrient delivery efficiency.
- CO₂ Sensor: Monitor CO₂ levels in parts per million (ppm). Configure the iControl to trigger a CO₂ generator or ventilation system based on real-time readings to maintain optimal CO₂ concentrations for photosynthesis.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the iControl unit and sensors with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Sensor Calibration: Refer to individual sensor manuals for specific calibration procedures, if required. Regular calibration ensures accurate readings.
- Firmware Updates: Check the MARS HYDRO app regularly for firmware updates for the iControl unit and sensors. Updates often include performance improvements and new features.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the iControl unit and the power outlet. Verify the outlet is functional.
- Connectivity Issues: Confirm your Wi-Fi network is active and the iControl unit is within range. Re-pair the device if necessary, ensuring your phone is on a 2.4GHz network during pairing.
- Inaccurate Sensor Readings: Check sensor placement and ensure they are clean and free from obstructions. Refer to the sensor-specific instructions for calibration.
- Devices Not Responding: Verify that connected devices are properly plugged into the iControl or iHub Pro. Check device power and functionality independently.
