1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the ZAFRO 42-inch Recessed Wall Mounted Electric Fireplace. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your new electric fireplace. Please read these instructions thoroughly before installation and use, and retain them for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

• Read all instructions before using this fireplace.
• This fireplace is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the fireplace and keep them away from the sides and rear.
• Extreme caution is necessary when any fireplace is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the fireplace is left operating and unattended.
• Do not operate any fireplace with a damaged cord or plug or after the fireplace malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Never locate fireplace where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
• Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
• To disconnect fireplace, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
• Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the fireplace.
• To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
• This fireplace has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable vapors or liquids are used or stored.
• Use this fireplace only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
• Always plug fireplaces directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).

5.1 Choosing an Installation Method

Your ZAFRO electric fireplace can be installed in two ways: recessed into a wall or surface wall-mounted. Choose the method that best suits your space and aesthetic preferences.

5.4 Recessed Installation Steps

1. Prepare the Wall Opening: Create a rectangular opening in your wall according to the dimensions specified in Figure 5.1 (38.82-41.1 inches wide and 16.53-17.7 inches high). Ensure there are no electrical wires or plumbing in the desired location.
2. Secure Mounting Brackets: Attach the provided mounting brackets to the inside of the wall opening using appropriate screws, ensuring they are level and securely fastened to wall studs.
3. Insert Fireplace: Carefully slide the electric fireplace unit into the prepared opening. Ensure it fits snugly and is flush with the wall surface.
4. Final Securement: Use the remaining screws to secure the fireplace unit to the mounting brackets and the wall framing.
5. Connect Power: Plug the fireplace into a grounded 120V outlet.

5.5 Wall-Mounted Installation Steps

1. Choose Location: Select a suitable wall location, ensuring it is away from combustible materials and has access to a grounded 120V outlet.
2. Mark Mounting Points: Hold the fireplace against the wall at the desired height and mark the locations for the mounting bracket screws. Use a level to ensure accuracy.
3. Install Mounting Bracket: Drill pilot holes and attach the main mounting bracket to the wall using the provided screws and wall anchors, ensuring it is firmly secured to wall studs if possible.
4. Hang Fireplace: Carefully lift the fireplace unit and hook it onto the installed wall mounting bracket.
5. Secure Bottom Brackets: Install the bottom securing brackets to prevent the fireplace from swinging.
6. Connect Power: Plug the fireplace into a grounded 120V outlet.

6. Operation

Your ZAFRO electric fireplace can be operated using the touch screen control panel on the unit or the included remote control.
