5. Maintenance

5.1 Outdoor Sensor

  • Cleaning the Rain Gauge: Periodically check and clean the rain collector funnel to prevent blockages from debris or insects, which can affect rainfall accuracy.
  • Battery Check: Although the solar panel provides auxiliary power, regularly check the batteries in the outdoor sensor, especially after prolonged periods of low sunlight or extreme weather, to ensure continuous operation.
  • Clear Obstructions: Ensure no new obstructions (e.g., growing tree branches) are blocking the wind sensors or solar panel.

5.2 Indoor Console

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: If using backup batteries, replace them as needed to prevent data loss during power interruptions.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SQECH Weather Station, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Signal from Outdoor Sensor:
    • Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the 328 feet (100m) transmission range of the indoor console.
    • Check that the outdoor sensor has working batteries and the solar panel is receiving adequate sunlight.
    • Minimize large metal obstructions between the sensor and console.
    • Try re-pairing the outdoor sensor with the indoor console (refer to the full user manual for specific pairing steps).
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Verify the outdoor sensor is mounted level using the built-in level indicator.
    • Ensure the rain gauge is clear of debris.
    • Confirm the wind cups and wind vane rotate freely.
    • Avoid placing the outdoor sensor near heat sources or reflective surfaces that could skew temperature readings.
  • Display Not Working:
    • Check the power adapter connection and ensure it is plugged into a working outlet.
    • If using backup batteries, ensure they are correctly installed and not depleted.
