Autofocus (AF) and Manual Focus (MF)

This lens supports both autofocus and manual focus. Use the AF/MF switch on the lens barrel to select your desired mode.

  • Autofocus (AF): The lens features a fast and silent STM stepping motor for precise focusing. It supports advanced features like human eye/face recognition, dynamically capturing subtle expressions.
  • Manual Focus (MF): For precise control, switch to MF mode and rotate the focus ring to adjust focus manually.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Lens

  • Always use a soft, clean microfiber cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces.
  • Gently blow off any loose dust or particles from the lens surface using a blower brush before wiping.
  • For stubborn smudges, apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to the cloth (not directly to the lens) and wipe in a circular motion from the center outwards.
  • Avoid touching the lens elements with your fingers.

Storage

  • When not in use, always attach the front and rear lens caps.
  • Store the lens in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for extended periods, consider using a dehumidifying agent to prevent mold growth.

Troubleshooting

Lens Not Attaching Properly

  • Ensure the lens and camera mount are clean and free of obstructions.
  • Verify correct alignment of the mounting indexes.
  • Do not force the lens; if it doesn't click, re-align and try again.

  • Check if the lens is set to AF mode using the AF/MF switch.
  • Ensure there is sufficient light and contrast in your subject for the autofocus system to work effectively.
  • Clean the electronic contacts on both the lens and camera body with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Ensure camera firmware and lens firmware are up to date.
