1. Product Overview

The Daytech WiFi Freezer and Room Thermometer is a versatile 2-in-1 temperature and humidity sensor designed for remote monitoring. It features both a built-in sensor for ambient room conditions and an external probe for monitoring temperatures in refrigerators, freezers, aquariums, wine cellars, and other specific environments. The device connects to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, allowing you to receive real-time data and alerts via the Smart Life mobile application.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Package Contents

2.2 Battery Installation

  1. Open the back cover of the thermometer unit.
  2. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the back cover securely.

2.3 App Download and Account Creation

  1. Download the Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

2.4 Device Pairing (WiFi Connection)

  1. Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Note: 5GHz Wi-Fi is not supported.
  2. Open the Smart Life app and tap the '+' sign to add a new device.
  3. On the thermometer unit, open the back cover and press and hold the small black button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator on the display starts blinking.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions to select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password to complete the binding process.

2.5 Device Placement

The thermometer unit can be attached to a metallic surface using its optional magnetic backing or affixed with the provided 3M adhesive tape. The external probe, with its 1-meter waterproof cable, can be placed inside a refrigerator, freezer, or other environment to monitor specific temperatures.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 On-Device Display

The thermometer's LCD screen displays the following information:

  • Top: Humidity percentage (from built-in sensor).
  • Middle: Indoor temperature (from built-in sensor), with Wi-Fi signal strength.
  • Bottom: External probe temperature.

3.2 Smart Life App Features

The Smart Life app provides comprehensive control and monitoring capabilities:

  • Remote Monitoring: View temperature and humidity data from anywhere.
  • Real-time Alerts: Receive instant notifications on your phone or via email when set thresholds are exceeded.
  • Data Tracking & Export: Access historical data, view trends, and export data for analysis. Data records can be stored for up to 2 years.
  • Temperature Unit Switching: Easily switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
  • Low Battery Reminder: The app will notify you when batteries are running low.
  • Calibration: Supports temperature and humidity calibration for improved accuracy.

3.3 Setting Alerts

Within the Smart Life app, navigate to the device settings to configure temperature and humidity alarm thresholds. You can set upper and lower limits for both the built-in sensor and the external probe. When the monitored values fall outside these ranges, the app will send instant notifications to your smartphone and/or email.

3.4 Dual Monitoring Capability

The device monitors two ambient temperatures simultaneously:

  • The built-in sensor measures the temperature and humidity of the immediate environment where the main unit is placed (e.g., room temperature).
  • The external probe sensor detects the temperature of the specific area it is placed in (e.g., inside a freezer, fish tank, or wine cellar).

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

When the Smart Life app indicates a low battery level, replace the two AAA batteries. The low power consumption design ensures a long battery life, typically at least two years.

4.2 Cleaning

Wipe the thermometer unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or immerse the main unit in water. The external probe is waterproof and can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

4.3 Probe Care

Ensure the external probe's silicone head is intact and properly sealed if it is used in wet environments or liquids like fish tanks.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 No Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Check if the device is within range of your Wi-Fi router (within 10m/30ft is recommended for optimal performance).
  • Verify your Wi-Fi password is entered correctly in the Smart Life app.
  • Try resetting the device by holding the black button for 5 seconds and re-pairing it with the app.

5.2 Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings

  • Use the calibration feature within the Smart Life app to adjust readings if you have a known accurate reference.
  • Ensure the sensors are not obstructed or exposed to direct sunlight or extreme drafts, which can affect readings.

5.3 No Alerts Received

  • Check your alert settings in the Smart Life app to ensure thresholds are correctly configured and notifications are enabled.
  • Verify your phone's notification settings for the Smart Life app.
  • If using email alerts, check your spam or junk folder.
