Operating Instructions

1. Wire Bender and Loop Maker

This function allows for precise shaping of wire to create custom fishing components such as spinners, spoons, micro jigs, octopus hooks, and anti-tangle/anti-bite wire leaders.

  1. Attach Wire Bending Arm: Insert the wire bending arm into the designated slot on the main unit.
  2. Secure Wire: Place the wire to be bent into the appropriate groove or pin on the bending arm.
  3. Form Shapes: Use the handle or manual manipulation to bend the wire around the pins or forms to achieve the desired shape. Examples include creating loops for swivels or shaping bodies for lures.

2. Reel Winder with Drag System

This function facilitates the transfer of fishing line from bulk spools to fishing reels, preventing tangles and ensuring even line distribution.

  1. Mount Spool: Attach the reel winding spindle to the main unit. Mount the bulk spool of fishing line onto the spindle.
  2. Attach Fishing Reel: Secure your fishing reel to a stable surface or hold it firmly.
  3. Thread Line: Thread the fishing line from the bulk spool through the guides on your fishing rod (if applicable) and tie it to your fishing reel's spool.
  4. Adjust Drag: Use the adjustable tension knob on the tool to set the desired drag. This ensures smooth line release and prevents tangles during winding.
  5. Wind Line: Rotate the handle on the main unit to transfer line from the bulk spool to your fishing reel. For faster winding, a drill attachment can be used with the spindle (see Figure 6).

3. Fly Tying Station

The tool can be configured as a fly tying station for crafting professional-grade flies.

  1. Attach Fly Tying Chuck: Insert the fly tying chuck into the appropriate receiver on the main unit.
  2. Secure Hook: Open the jaws of the chuck and carefully insert the fishing hook. Tighten the chuck to securely hold the hook in place.
  3. Tie Fly: Proceed with your fly tying process, utilizing the stable platform provided by the tool.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the tool with a clean, dry cloth to remove any moisture, dirt, or fishing debris. For stubborn grime, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by thorough drying.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of light machine oil to moving parts, such as the reel winding spindle and handle mechanism, to ensure smooth operation. Avoid over-lubrication.
  • Storage: Store the tool and its attachments in a dry, cool place, preferably in its original pouch or a protective case, to prevent corrosion and damage.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or loose fasteners. Tighten any loose screws or bolts as needed.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Line tangles during reel winding.
Solution: Ensure the drag system tension knob is properly adjusted. Increase tension slightly to maintain control over the line. Verify the line is feeding smoothly from the bulk spool and through any guides.
  • Issue: Difficulty bending wire or inconsistent shapes.
Solution: Ensure the wire is correctly seated in the bending arm's grooves. Verify the wire gauge is suitable for the tool's capacity. Ensure the tool is securely clamped to the work surface to prevent movement.
  • Issue: Fly hook not holding securely in the chuck.
Solution: Ensure the chuck jaws are clean and free of debris. Tighten the chuck sufficiently, but do not overtighten, which could damage the hook or chuck.
