This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your PartState Milwaukee M12 FUEL 1/4" Hex Cordless Impact Driver Kit, model 3453-22. This tool is designed for efficient fastening applications, offering a balance of speed, compactness, and visibility in various workspaces.
The M12 FUEL 1/4" Hex Impact Driver features a brushless motor for fast driving speeds, a compact design for access in tight spaces, and Tri-LEDs for enhanced workspace visibility. It includes a 4-mode drive control with a dedicated self-tapping screw mode.

General Safety Instructions

Setup
1. Charging the Battery Pack
- Connect the M12 Battery Charger (48-59-2401) to a standard electrical outlet.
- Slide the M12 2.0Ah Battery Pack (48-11-2420) onto the charger. Ensure it is fully seated.
- The charger's indicator light will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific manual for detailed light indications.
- Once fully charged, remove the battery pack from the charger.
2. Installing/Removing the Battery Pack
- To Install: Align the battery pack with the base of the impact driver and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
- To Remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the side of the battery pack) and slide the battery pack out of the tool.
3. Installing/Removing 1/4" Hex Accessories
- To Install: Pull the collar of the 1/4" hex chuck forward. Insert the 1/4" hex accessory (e.g., screwdriver bit, drill bit) into the chuck. Release the collar to lock the accessory in place. Tug on the accessory to ensure it is securely fastened.
- To Remove: Pull the collar of the 1/4" hex chuck forward and pull the accessory out.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off and Variable Speed Trigger
To start the tool, pull the variable speed trigger. The tool speed increases as you increase pressure on the trigger. To stop the tool, release the trigger.

2. 4-Mode Drive Control
The impact driver features a 4-mode drive control system, allowing you to select the appropriate speed and power for different applications. Press the mode selection button (located near the battery gauge) to cycle through the modes.
- Mode 1: Lower speed and torque for precision work and delicate materials.
- Mode 2: Medium speed and torque for general fastening applications.
- Mode 3: High speed and torque for heavy-duty fastening.
- Mode 4 (Self-Tapping Screw Mode): Optimized for self-tapping screws, providing controlled speed to prevent over-tightening or stripping.
3. Tri-LED Work Lights
The Tri-LED work lights illuminate the workspace, providing brighter light and reducing shadows for improved visibility. These lights activate when the trigger is pulled.

4. Battery Gauge
The battery gauge, located on the tool, indicates the remaining charge of the battery pack. Monitor this gauge to ensure sufficient power for your tasks and to know when recharging is necessary.
5. Belt Clip
The integrated belt clip allows for convenient portability, securing the tool to your belt or pocket when not in use, reducing fatigue during extended work periods.
