Setup

Charging the Speaker

  1. Locate the USB-C charging port on the side of the speaker.
  2. Open the protective cover of the USB-C port.
  3. Connect one end of the USB-C charging cable to the speaker and the other end to a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
  4. The LED indicator will show charging status. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.
  5. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and securely close the protective cover to maintain IP68 rating.

Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Power on the JBL GRIP speaker by pressing the Power button.
  2. Press the Bluetooth button on the top panel. The LED indicator will flash, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), go to Bluetooth settings and select "JBL GRIP" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once connected, the LED indicator on the speaker will turn solid.

Operating Instructions

Basic Playback

  • Play/Pause: Press the Play/Pause button once.
  • Volume Control: Use the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons.
  • Skip Track: Double-press the Play/Pause button for next track. Triple-press for previous track.

Ambient Light Control

The JBL GRIP features an ambient light that can be customized to match your mood.

  • Default Modes: Cycle through pre-set light themes by pressing the dedicated light button (if available, otherwise use app).
  • Customization: For advanced customization of brightness and color, download and use the JBL Portable app.

Aura Cast Multi-Speaker Connection

Aura Cast allows you to connect multiple JBL GRIP speakers for a synchronized audio experience.

  1. Ensure all JBL GRIP speakers are powered on and in pairing mode.
  2. Follow the instructions in the JBL Portable app to initiate Aura Cast pairing.
  3. Once connected, audio will play simultaneously across all linked speakers.

JBL Portable App

Download the JBL Portable app from your device's app store to unlock additional features and control options for your JBL GRIP speaker. The app allows you to:

  • Adjust equalizer settings.
  • Customize ambient light themes and brightness.
  • Manage Aura Cast connections.
  • Update speaker firmware.

Maintenance

Waterproof and Dustproof (IP68)

The JBL GRIP speaker is rated IP68, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion in water up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. To maintain this rating:

  • Ensure the USB-C port cover is securely closed before exposing the speaker to water or dust.
  • Do not expose the speaker to salt water or other chemicals. If exposed, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid using the speaker in extreme temperatures.

Cleaning

To clean your speaker, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Troubleshooting

Speaker does not power on.Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the speaker to a power source using the USB-C cable.
Cannot pair via Bluetooth.
  • Ensure the speaker is in pairing mode (flashing Bluetooth LED).
  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your device.

  • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
No sound or low volume.
  • Adjust the volume on both the speaker and your connected device.
  • Ensure the speaker is properly connected via Bluetooth.
  • Check for any obstructions between the speaker and your device.
