Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the thermometer.
- Insert the 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Attaching a Probe Cover
For hygienic and accurate measurements, always use a new, undamaged disposable probe cover for each measurement.
- Gently slide a new probe cover onto the thermometer's probe tip until it clicks into place. Ensure it is fitted snugly and without wrinkles.
- The thermometer will not function correctly without a probe cover attached.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
- Press the power button (usually the main measurement button) to turn on the thermometer.
- The device will automatically turn off after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery.
2. Selecting Age Mode
The ET102 features an Age Precision mode for accurate readings based on age. Press the "Age" button to cycle through the following age groups:
- 0-3 Months: For newborns and infants up to 3 months old.
- 3-36 Months: For babies and toddlers between 3 and 36 months old.
- 36+ Months: For children older than 36 months and adults.

3. Taking a Temperature Measurement
- Ensure a new, clean probe cover is attached.
- Gently insert the probe tip into the ear canal. For children under 1 year, gently pull the ear straight back. For children over 1 year and adults, gently pull the ear up and back.
- Press and release the measurement button. The measurement will be completed in approximately 1 second.
- The temperature reading will be displayed on the LED screen. A fever alarm will sound if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold (if not in mute mode).
4. Mute Mode and Night Light
To avoid disturbing a sleeping child, activate the mute mode and night light:
- Press the "Night Light/Mute" button (often indicated by a moon/light icon) to toggle the mute function and activate the soft night light.
- In mute mode, the thermometer will not emit beeping sounds, and the night light will illuminate the ear canal for easy positioning.

5. Switching Between °C and °F
