2. What's in the Box
Carefully unpack all components and ensure the following items are included:

3. Setup
3.1 Placement
Place the turntable on a level, stable surface to ensure optimal performance and minimize vibrations. The compact design (16.9" W × 5.0" H × 13.9" D) allows for flexible placement.

3.2 Assembly
- Install the Platter: Carefully place the aluminum platter onto the turntable spindle.
- Place the Turntable Mat: Position the turntable mat on top of the platter.
- Attach the Balance Weight: Slide the balance weight onto the rear of the tonearm.
- Attach the Cartridge: Secure the included Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge to the headshell.
- Remove Stylus Cover: Carefully remove the stylus cover before use.

3.3 Tonearm Adjustment
Proper tonearm adjustment is crucial for optimal sound quality and to prevent damage to your records. This turntable features an aluminum S-shaped tonearm for precise tracking.
- Balance the Tonearm: Release the tonearm clamp. Adjust the balance weight until the tonearm floats level.
- Set Tracking Force: Once balanced, turn the numbered ring on the balance weight to zero. Then, rotate the entire balance weight to set the recommended stylus pressure (2g for SL-40CBT).
- Set Anti-Skating: Adjust the anti-skating control to match the stylus pressure setting.

3.4 Connections
The SL-40CBT offers versatile connectivity options:
- LINE OUT: Use this when connecting to an amplifier or active speakers with a built-in phono preamp. Ensure the PHONO/LINE switch on the rear panel is set to 'LINE'.
- PHONO OUT: Use this when connecting to an external phono preamp or an amplifier with a dedicated 'PHONO' input. Ensure the PHONO/LINE switch is set to 'PHONO'. Connect the PHONO EARTH lead to your amplifier's ground terminal to reduce hum.
- Bluetooth: For wireless connection to Bluetooth speakers or headphones. This feature is available on the SL-40CBT model.

4. Operating
4.1 Basic Playback
- Power On: Press the power button (⏻) on the control panel.
- Select Speed: Press the '33' or '45' button to match your record's speed.
- Place Record: Carefully place your vinyl record on the turntable mat. Handle records by the edges to avoid damaging grooves.
- Start Platter: Press the 'START • STOP' button to begin platter rotation.
- Position Tonearm: Lift the tonearm using the cueing lever. Carefully move the tonearm over the desired track on the record.
- Lower Tonearm: Slowly lower the cueing lever to gently place the stylus onto the record.
- Adjust Volume: Turn up the volume on your connected amplifier or speakers.
- Stop Playback: Lift the tonearm using the cueing lever, return it to the tonearm rest, and press 'START • STOP' to stop the platter.

4.2 Bluetooth Connection (SL-40CBT only)
To connect wirelessly to Bluetooth speakers or headphones:
- Ensure the PHONO/LINE/Bluetooth switch on the rear panel is set to the Bluetooth symbol.
- Turn on the turntable.
- Press the Bluetooth button (Ⓘ) on the control panel to enter pairing mode. The indicator will flash.
- Put your Bluetooth device (speaker/headphones) into pairing mode.
- Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator on the turntable will light up steadily.
Supported codecs include Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and SBC.

4.3 Dust Cover
Use the included dust cover to protect the turntable from dust and debris when not in use. The dust cover is designed to stay open at various angles.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Stylus
Gently brush the stylus from back to front using a soft brush designed for stylus cleaning. Avoid touching the stylus with your fingers.
5.2 Cleaning Records
Use a carbon fiber brush or a record cleaning kit to remove dust and static from your records before each play. This helps preserve both your records and stylus.
5.3 General Cleaning
Wipe the turntable unit and dust cover with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, please consult the following common troubleshooting tips:
- No Sound: Check all cable connections (LINE OUT/PHONO OUT, PHONO EARTH). Ensure the PHONO/LINE switch is set correctly for your setup. Verify amplifier/speaker power and volume.
- Distorted Sound: Check stylus for damage or debris. Ensure tonearm tracking force and anti-skating are correctly set. Verify record cleanliness.
- Skipping: Ensure the turntable is on a stable, level surface. Check stylus for damage. Clean the record.
- Incorrect Speed: Verify the '33' or '45' RPM button is selected correctly for the record being played.
- Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure the PHONO/LINE/Bluetooth switch is set to Bluetooth. Confirm your receiving device is in pairing mode. Try restarting both the turntable and the Bluetooth device.
- Humming Noise: Ensure the PHONO EARTH lead is properly connected to your amplifier's ground terminal.
