4. Operating Instructions

The PQWT PQ125A offers different detection modes to accurately locate water leaks. Always ensure the pipeline's position and routing are understood before starting detection.

4.1. Indoor General Detection Mode

This mode is used for quickly scanning large indoor areas to identify potential leak locations. Use the DMR-H40 or DMR-V59 sensor.

  1. Sensor Placement: Place the appropriate sensor (DMR-H40 for narrow spaces/walls, DMR-V59 for floors) on the ground or wall directly above the suspected pipeline.
  2. Adjust Settings: Using the control handle, set the volume to 5 and gain to 3.
  3. Start Monitoring: Press the control handle switch to begin leak monitoring. Stay at each point for approximately 8-10 seconds.
  4. Move Sensor: After monitoring a point, press the control handle switch again to stop listening. Move the sensor along the pipeline in 0.5-meter increments.
  5. Identify Suspected Leak: If the sound differs or becomes louder, and the waveform on the screen is continuous with stable amplitude, it may indicate a leak.
  6. Confirm Leak Location: Use this point as the center and compare signal strength in all directions to confirm the suspected leak location.

4.2. Indoor Location Mode

After identifying a suspected leak area with General Detection Mode, use Location Mode for precise pinpointing. This mode captures signals from multiple points for comparison.

  1. Enter Location Mode: From the main interface, tap to enter Location Mode. The screen will display 16 signal collection boxes.
  2. Collect Data: Place the sensor on the ground or wall above the pipeline. Starting from point 01, tap anywhere inside the box to begin data collection. A blue bar will appear, and a signal value will be displayed.
  3. Lock Signal: Once the thick bar stabilizes, tap inside the box again to lock the blue signal bar. When the signal value turns black, it means it is locked.
  4. Repeat Collection: After completing point 01, move the sensor to the next point (e.g., 0.5-meter increments) and repeat the data collection process until all points are collected.
  5. Verify Leak Point: Compare the signal strengths across the collected points. The point with the highest stable signal strength indicates the most probable leak location.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your PQWT PQ125A Water Leak Detector, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the host unit, sensors, and control handle with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device and its components in the provided carry case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: Charge the device fully before long-term storage. If storing for extended periods, recharge the battery every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
  • Sensor Protection: Ensure sensors are clean and free from debris before and after use. Avoid dropping or subjecting sensors to harsh impacts.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PQWT PQ125A, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the charger and try again.
    • Verify that the power button is pressed and held for 3-5 seconds.
  • No Signal or Weak Signal:
    • Check all cable connections (control handle to host, control handle to sensor, headphones). Ensure they are securely tightened.
    • Adjust the gain and volume settings on the control handle.
    • Ensure the sensor is placed firmly on the surface above the pipeline.
    • Verify that the correct sensor (DMR-H40 or DMR-V59) is being used for the specific detection environment.
  • Unstable Readings:
    • Minimize environmental noise during detection.
    • Ensure the sensor is stable and not moving during data collection at each point.
  • Touchscreen Unresponsive:
    • Perform a soft reset by pressing the 'RST' button on the host unit.
    • Ensure the screen is clean and dry.
