Fristaden Lab HTP Series

Fristaden Lab HTP Series 10 kg x 0.1 g Digital Scale Instruction Manual

Model: HTP Series (10 kg x 0.1 g Square Pan)

1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your Fristaden Lab HTP Series digital laboratory scale. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance. This scale is designed for precise weighing in scientific, pharmaceutical, and general laboratory applications.

2. Safety Information

  • Operate the scale on a stable, level surface free from vibrations and drafts.
  • Avoid exposing the scale to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not overload the scale beyond its maximum capacity of 10 kg.
  • Keep liquids and corrosive substances away from the scale to prevent damage.
  • Use only the provided power adapter.
  • Disconnect power before cleaning or if the scale will not be used for an extended period.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

  • Fristaden Lab HTP Series Digital Scale
  • Weighing Pan (Square)
  • Power Cord/Adapter
  • Calibration Weight (500g)
  • Instruction Manual (this document)

4. Setup

4.1 Placement

Place the scale on a firm, level, and stable surface. Ensure the location is free from vibrations, air currents (e.g., from air conditioning or open windows), and direct heat sources or sunlight. Allow the scale to acclimate to the room temperature for at least 15-30 minutes before initial use or calibration.

4.2 Assembly

Carefully place the square weighing pan onto the scale's weighing platform. Ensure it sits securely and does not wobble.

4.3 Leveling the Scale

Locate the bubble level indicator, typically found on the front or side of the scale. Adjust the four adjustable feet at the bottom of the scale until the air bubble is centered within the circle of the indicator. This ensures accurate measurements.

4.4 Power Connection

Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port on the back of the scale and then plug it into a standard 110V AC power outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press the ON/OFF button. The display will show "888888" then "0.0g".
  • To power off, press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display turns off.

5.2 Unit Selection

Press the UNIT button to cycle through available weighing units: grams (g), carats (ct), pounds (lb), and ounces (oz).

5.3 Tare Function

To subtract the weight of a container:

  1. Place the empty container on the weighing pan.
  2. Press the TARE/CAL button. The display will reset to "0.0g".
  3. Add the item to be weighed into the container. The display will show the net weight of the item.

5.4 Counting Function (PCS)

This function allows you to count multiple items of the same weight.

  1. Place a sample quantity (e.g., 10, 20, 50, or 100 pieces) of the items on the pan.
  2. Press the PCS button. The display will show "PCS" and a number (e.g., "PCS 25").
  3. Use the UNIT button to select the sample quantity that matches the number of items you placed on the pan.
  4. Press PCS again to confirm. The scale is now in counting mode.
  5. Add more items, and the display will show the total count.

5.5 Calibration

Calibration is crucial for maintaining accuracy. It should be performed upon initial setup, if the scale is moved, or if environmental conditions change significantly. A 500g calibration weight is included.

  1. Ensure the scale is on a stable, level surface and powered on with nothing on the pan.
  2. Press and hold the TARE/CAL button until "CAL" appears on the display, then release.
  3. The display will then show the required calibration weight (e.g., "500.0g").
  4. Carefully place the 500g calibration weight onto the center of the weighing pan.
  5. Wait for the display to stabilize and show "PASS" or return to "0.0g". This indicates successful calibration.
  6. Remove the calibration weight.

Note: The scale automatically detects the calibration weight. While the manual may refer to a 200g weight for some models, your 10kg model is designed to calibrate with the included 500g weight.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the scale's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the scale in water. The weighing pan can be removed and cleaned separately with mild soap and water, then dried thoroughly before reinstallation.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the scale in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure no heavy objects are placed on the weighing pan during storage.

6.3 Regular Checks

Periodically check the scale's calibration using the provided calibration weight to ensure continued accuracy, especially if precise measurements are critical for your application.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Display shows "Err" or unstable readingsOverload, unstable surface, strong air currents, electromagnetic interference.Remove excess weight. Place scale on a stable, level surface. Relocate away from drafts or electronic devices. Recalibrate.
Scale does not turn onNo power, faulty adapter, power outlet issue.Check power cord connection. Ensure power outlet is functional. Try a different outlet.
Inaccurate measurementsNot calibrated, not level, temperature changes, vibrations.Perform calibration. Level the scale. Ensure stable environment. Allow scale to acclimate to temperature.
Counting function (PCS) is incorrectIncorrect sample quantity selected, items not uniform in weight.Ensure the sample quantity matches the items placed. Use items with consistent weight for best results.
