3. Setup and Installation
3.1. Vehicle Preparation
Before installation, ensure your vehicle's seating position is suitable for a child restraint. Consult your vehicle owner's manual for specific instructions regarding child restraint installation points (LATCH anchors or seat belt paths).
3.2. Installation Modes
The Maxi-Cosi Andi 360 can be installed using either the vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt. The base installation is the same for all three modes (rear-facing, forward-facing, booster).
3.2.1. Rear-Facing Installation (5-40 lbs, 19-40 inches)
- Position the car seat in the rear-facing orientation on your vehicle's seat.
- LATCH Installation: Locate the lower anchor connectors on the car seat and attach them to your vehicle's lower LATCH anchors. Tighten the LATCH strap until the car seat moves no more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- Seat Belt Installation: Route the vehicle lap and shoulder belt through the designated rear-facing belt path. Buckle the seat belt and remove all slack. Engage the built-in vehicle belt lock-off arm to secure the belt.
- Check the recline angle indicator to ensure the seat is at the correct angle for your child's weight and age.
- Utilize the TensionFix™ indicator: This red-to-green indicator shows when your seat belt has sufficient tension for a correct installation. Ensure it shows green.

3.2.2. Forward-Facing Installation (30-65 lbs, 34.4-49 inches)
- Position the car seat in the forward-facing orientation on your vehicle's seat.
- LATCH Installation: Attach the lower anchor connectors to your vehicle's lower LATCH anchors. Tighten the LATCH strap. Attach the top tether strap to your vehicle's top tether anchor point and tighten.
- Seat Belt Installation: Route the vehicle lap and shoulder belt through the designated forward-facing belt path. Buckle the seat belt and remove all slack. Engage the built-in vehicle belt lock-off arm. Attach the top tether strap to your vehicle's top tether anchor point and tighten.
- Ensure the TensionFix™ indicator shows green for seat belt installations.
3.2.3. High-Back Booster Installation (40-100 lbs, 43.4-52 inches)
- Remove the internal harness system (refer to the manual for detailed steps on harness removal).
- Position the booster seat on your vehicle's seat.
- Secure the child using the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. Ensure the shoulder belt is positioned correctly over the child's shoulder and the lap belt is low across the hips.
- The LATCH connectors can be used to secure the booster to the vehicle when unoccupied, but they do not replace the vehicle's seat belt for child restraint in booster mode.
3.3. Headrest and Harness Adjustment (QuikFit™)
The QuikFit™ system allows for easy 10-position adjustment of the headrest and harness simultaneously. To adjust:
- Locate the adjustment handle at the top of the headrest.
- Squeeze the handle and move the headrest up or down until the harness straps are at or just below your child's shoulders for rear-facing, or at or just above your child's shoulders for forward-facing.
- Release the handle to lock the headrest and harness in place.

5.3. Plastic and Metal Parts
Wipe plastic and metal parts with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Car seat feels loose after installation. | LATCH strap or seat belt not tightened enough; TensionFix™ not showing green. | Re-read installation instructions. Apply more force to tighten LATCH strap or seat belt. Ensure TensionFix™ indicator is green. Check for movement at the belt path (should be less than 1 inch). |
| Harness is difficult to tighten or loosen. | Harness straps twisted; child's clothing interfering; harness adjuster mechanism obstructed. | Ensure harness straps are flat and untwisted. Check for obstructions around the harness adjuster. Pull the harness adjuster strap straight out, not at an angle. |
| Seat does not rotate smoothly or gets stuck. | Rotation lever not fully engaged; debris in rotation mechanism; seat not properly aligned. | Ensure the rotation lever is fully squeezed/pressed. Check for any objects obstructing the rotation path. Ensure the seat is not leaning against the vehicle's seat back or door. |
| Chest clip is hard to open. | Mechanism may be stiff or misaligned. | Ensure you are pressing both sides of the clip firmly. If it remains difficult, contact customer support. |
